Flow Sentry

Model 4FS - Flow Sentry

Tanker trucks offload a variety of waste oils at a cement manufacturer. These waste oils are used as a low cost additive to the furnace fuel supply, however they are often full of coagulated contaminant lumps that dog the pumps, valves and spray nozzles that feed the furnaces. A Model 4FS Row-Sentry was installed on the suction side of the pump that is used to empty the Tanker trucks. The Flow-Sentry continuously impacts and breaks down the problem lumps as soon as they leave the truck, preventing downstream problems.

Model 6FS-04 - Flow Sentry

Hard lumps are a natural by-product of the chemical reactions used to make Adipic Acid, and these lumps often plug up pumps and cause problems with other downstream process equipment. A Texas chemical manufacturer installed a Model 6FS04 Flow-Sentry in two of their process streams to continuously break up the lumps, thus eliminating the pump clogs and protecting the downstream equipment. The Model 6FS04 Row Sentries are installed in two 6` diameter pipelines. Each processes a flow-rate of 700 gpm (25,000 pounds per hour) of Adipic Acid at a line pressure of 100 psi and a temperature of 350 degrees F.

Model 18FS - Flow Sentry

Solid material builds up on the inner walls of the reactor chamber used in manufacture of a raw material used in the production of plastic sheet especially during upset or start-up conditions. Eventually this build-up sloughs off the walls and falls to the bottom of the reactor causing pipeline and equipment blockages. These blockages often require a full system shutdown in order to be removed. A Model 18FS Flow-Sentry was installed into the 18` outlet pipe to break up the oversize lumps, chunks, and strips before they cause the downstream clogs, eliminating the need for the shutdowns.

Flow Sizer

Model 66 Series - Flow Sizer

A Flooring manufacturer uses a mixture of limestone and PVC powder to make floor tiles. Occasional golf ball size lumps in the mixture cause production problems. A Model 66 Row-Sizer was chosen to break up and remove the oversize materials because of its small size and economical price. The Model 66 Flow-Sizer is moved around the plant as needed and is generally used to prepare 100 pound batches of material for use in production runs.

Flow Smasher

Model 2424 Series - Flow Smasher

A manufacturer uses Camphor as one of the raw materials in its manufacturing process. The Camphor is imported from overseas manufacturers and arrives in 40 kg boxes, with approximate dimensions of 12` x 12` x 18` tall. Because of the nature of the material and the conditions of transport the camphor in the boxes arrives totally solidified into `bricks`. To be metered accurately into a mixing tank to dissolve more quickly these bricks must be reduced to small pieces. To do this, the bricks are loaded onto a conveyor and fed one at a time into a Model 2424 Flow-Smasher, where they are crushed to a small size and discharged into a large fiber drum.

Particle Sizer Fine Grinding Mill

Model PSZ66 - Fine Grinding Mill

A food product manufacturer in Idaho wanted to reduce the particle size of some of their existing products, dehydrated potato flakes and chips, so that they could be packaged as a potato `powder` for use as a food additive. The dehydrated potato flakes and chips are available in either 50-pound bags or in large Totes. A Tote-Dumper pours the potato flakes into the feed hopper of a Model PSZ66 Particle Sizer. Using a size 108 cage, the Particle Sizer reduces the dried potato flakes to approximately 20 mesh (.03`) at a flow-rate of 3000 pounds per hour. The powdered potato is sent to a bag filler where it is packaged into 50-pound bags for shipment.

Model PSZ1010 - Fine Grinding Mill

A pharmaceutical manufacturer in Virginia receives one of their raw materials as a dry powder in 100-kg fiber drums. However, because the material is hygroscopic (tends to attract and absorb moisture from the air), it often compacts into lumps or chunks during transport. When the drum is emptied and the powder is fed into a mixing tank, the lumps sometimes prevent thorough mixing. In order to make sure that the lumps are removed, and that the powder that is fed into the mixing tank will quickly, completely, and reliably go into solution, a Model PSZ1010 Particle Sizer was installed just prior to the inlet of the mixing tank.
