Helping our clients take that first step towards sustainable development is a big part of our service. Wherever we can, we recycle our energy, and we always ensure we meet the highest possible standards of eco-friendly disposal, and not just because it is our duty.
The Azure Environmental Policy
Our waterways and natural environment need protecting from sanitary and clinical waste pollution. Managing this waste in line with Environment Agency guidelines reduces the levels of contamination and potential health risks. It also helps to achieve and maintain the standards of clean waterways and environment we all desire.
Simply flushing sanitary waste down the toilet can cause blocked drains, resulting in costly and unpleasant work to resolve. Sanitary waste disposed of in this manner can eventually end up in waterways and on beaches as sewage related debris.
The HSE and Environment Agency state that all employers and businesses have a serious responsibility (Duty of Care), to provide adequate washroom and hygiene facilities for their staff and visitors and to ensure any associated waste, such as sanitary dressings, nappies, clinical dressings, blood materials, sharps and so on are managed appropriately.
Clinical and hygiene waste should be safely contained and kept separate from general office/trade waste. Collection and disposal must be conducted within the law by licensed waste carriers, with an audit trail of documentation to point of disposal being recorded.
Azure Hygiene is rooted in these guidelines, and can help you to achieve high levels of sanitation in your workplace.
