Biocore Environmental Limited

The principal promoters of the business are Wayne Byrne, Peter Carey, Declan Murray, and Evan Dolan. The promoters have deep capabilities in the waste, energy, renewables and clean technology sectors. Wayne Byrne and his former management team (including Declan and Evan) disposed of a major waste equipment supply company, Manvik Group, in September 2009. Manvik had over 80 staff, operated in Ireland, UK and NI and turned over in excess of €40M. The four promoters through their involvement in the waste, energy and renewable sectors have identified compelling market opportunities in the resource recovery of wastewater sludge, landfill leachate, and commercial biosolids. BioCore is an Enterprise Ireland high potential start-up (HPSU) Client and has been trading since 2010.

The four promoters through their involvement in the waste, energy and renewable sectors have identified compelling market opportunities in the resource recovery of wastewater sludge, landfill leacahte, and commercial biosolids. BioCore is an Enterprise Ireland high potential start-up (HPSU) Client and has been trading since 2010.

In the first year of trading BioCore has achieved a turnover of €700,000, won two major municipal sludge contracts and secured two significant Biogas projects (7.5MW+) which rely on the direct, and indirect, use of sludge for feedstock. BioCore now manage over 10,000 tonnes of sludge and currently have 7 staff employed.

BioCore’s long term aim is to use this resource potential for renewable energy generation and recovery of commercial grade fertilisers for farmland. Our core service offering is the recycling of wastewater sludge, landfill leachate, and commercial biosolids and we are currently targeting wastewater operators, and food producers in the UK & Ireland with very compelling propositions.

BioCore are involved today in a number of research areas:
  • Innovative and Low cost dewatering of wastewater sludge
  • Oxygen Enrichment
  • Nutrient recovery (P,N,K) from Wastewater Sludge
  • Membrane technologies
