Our chemical regulatory compliance team supports o...
Our chemical regulatory compliance team supports our clients to ensure they are compliant with all EU Chemical Regulations including REACH, CLP/GHS, the Seveso Directive (COMAH) and food additives.
The compliance team also provides support in toxicology, ecotoxicology, exposure assessments, chemical safety reports, dossier preparation, substance identity confirmation and preparation of Safety Data Sheets. We also have extensive experience of non-standard toxicology and ecotoxicology studies, and modelling of substances in the environment.
CEA was established in 2001 as a research and consultancy group within ADAS UK Ltd, offering higher tier risk assessment expertise to both commercial and government organisations. Founding staff members were recruited from the Agrochemical manufacturing industry, supported by specialist ADAS staff. Originally focussing on the environmental fate of plant protection products, and specialising in regulatory modelling and exposure assessments, CEA successfully expanded both its client and skills base, and by 2005 boasted 10 specialist staff located across 2 UK offices. This success enabled CEA’s proven track record of providing high quality environmental risk assessments and regulatory support to be widened to cover veterinary medicines, human pharmaceuticals, biocidal products, and more recently, general chemicals. At this time a new field fate team was established at the Gleadthorpe site (Nottinghamshire), engaged in a wide range of field based investigative and monitoring studies. In 2007 the CEA skill base was again enhanced when an expert in GIS/spatial modelling joined the group, bringing additional expertise in landscape based risk characterisation. Around the same time CEA launched a new consultancy service for companies seeking compliance under the REACH regulations.
CEA’s continuing expansion has centred on consolidating the component expert groups (REACH support, Ecotoxicology, Regulatory Risk Assessment/Modelling, Field Fate and Stewardship), and has encompassed the further enhancement of CEA’s ecotoxicology skill base (aquatic and terrestrial), which has included the establishment of new mesocosm/microcosm facilities at the Cambridge site. In 2013 CEA expanded into the toxicology area recruiting two specialists. By mid 2014 the CEA staff complement had risen to 28 (full and part time) located at 3 UK offices with active recruitment in several areas ongoing.
