Acetic acid is primarily used as a raw material for the manufacture of vinyl acetate (VAM). It is used as a reaction promoter in terephthalic acid production and is also a raw material for cellulose acetate, acetate esters, acetic anhydride, chloroacetic acid and a wide range of industrial synthesis.

Celanese is one of the largest manufacturers of cellulose acetate flake, used primarily for our filter tow as well as multiple biomaterials including Clarifoil® film and BlueRidge® pellets.

Fortron® polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) is a high-temperature thermoplastic material that offers an excellent combination of thermal, mechanical and chemical resistance properties.

Vinyl Acetate Monomer (VAM) is used in the production of polymer emulsions and resins of various types including Vinyl acetate homopolymers, Vinyl Acetate/Ethylene (VAE) and Ethylene/Vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymers as well as the production of Polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) and Ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH).

Celvolit® emulsions are utilized in a wide variety of end-use applications within the building and construction segment. Applications include 2K cementitious waterproofing coatings, concrete bonding primers, bonding agent, RDP (redispersible powders) wallboard joint compounds, dust control and soil stabilization. Additionally, Celvolit® emulsions are commonly used in several other industry segments including paints and coatings (e.g. architectural paint binder), adhesives (e.g. packaging), and textile (e.g. carpet-backing adhesives).

Whether used as standalone additives or in combination with one another, Elotex® Redispersible Polymer Powders (RDP) and Specialty Additives offer a powerful toolkit for the modification of dry mix mortar formulations for the construction industry.
