Civil, Landscape Architecture, Water & Wastewater Services

Site design is important not only to a property itself, but to the surrounding properties as well. Our civil engineers, landscape architects, water/wastewater specialists, and support personnel work together to plan and design sites for a wide variety of clients and projects. We strive to create modern, functional and efficient designs that incorporate beautifully landscaped and aesthetically pleasing looks.

Water Quality Compliance

In addition to expertise in water and wastewater process chemistry, biology and design, REI provides specialized guidance to our clients in the area of water quality compliance. From distribution system water quality to wastewater effluent disposal requirements, REI engineers investigate, identify and solve the problems facing many municipalities with respect to compliance with stringent rules and regulations. REI`s water chemistry and system modeling capabilities greatly enhance our ability to develop compliance plans that are successful and cost effective. Our experience includes addressing water treatment and distribution issues such as THM formation, chloramine feed balancing, red-water complaints, high water age, and equilibrium effects from blending waters from different sources. Wastewater issues addressed by REI engineers include turbidity, nutrient removal, effluent disposal and permitting, THM formation during chlorination, and a variety of other issues. REI`s leadership in the area of process chemistry and design allows our staff to provide service to our clients well beyond the typical civil/environmental engineering firm.

Stormwater and Drainage

After decades of rapid urban sprawl, many communities across the nation are confronting new stormwater management problems as they plan for a growing population, aging drainage infrastructure, and land development. Water Services

Utilities managers face water resource and water treatment challenges including the increasing water demand and more stringent water regulations. With populations increasing and the subsequent increase in demand for potable water, the availability of our limited natural resources quickly diminishes and brackish groundwater, surface water, and even oceans are now becoming potential source waters. In addition drinking water regulations are becoming more stringent and drive the need for advanced treatment. Aging infrastructure dictates judicious maintenance and replacement programs. More often than not, they are tasked to accomplish this mission with budget expenditures increasing faster than revenues.

The REI water team offers the following water services:

  • Master Planning
  • Water Quality and Treatment
  • Membrane Treatment
  • Water Chemistry
  • Cost Estimating
  • Source Water Characterization
  • Blending/Re-Equilibration Studies
  • Surface Water Treatment Planning and Design
  • Establishment of Drinking Water Goals
  • Regulatory Compliance/Permitting
  • Evaluation of Alternative Water Supplies
  • Pilot Studies
  • Hydraulic Modeling
  • Water Treatment Plant Design
  • Process Assessments
  • Operator Training
  • Pipeline and Storage Design
