Comprehensive Forensic Chemistry Services
ChemCentre`s Forensic Science Laboratory plays a central role in supporting law enforcement in Western Australia. We work with the WA Police, State and District Coroners and other government departments and agencies involved in justice administration. Each year we examine more than 20,000 items of evidence ranging from blood and urine samples from Coroners` investigations into sudden deaths to gunshot residues and other materials from serious crimes. Police investigations of clandestine drug manufacturing are supported and we also advise on the value, use, collection and preservation of evidence as well as providing expert testimony in court proceedings. Our Forensic Science Laboratory is staffed by professional officers with extensive experience in forensic chemistry, mineralogy and instrumental analytical techniques.
Monitoring & Assessing The Environment
ChemCentre`s complex problem solving services are designed to help you reach your sustainable development goals. Servicing industry, government and researchers, our environmental work involves biodiversity protection, emission management, occupational health and safety requirements and legal compliance to enhance environmental responsibility. Our scientific expertise and resources - including a fully equipped mobile laboratory - enables us to monitor and assess most aspects of the environment.
24-Hour Emergency Response Service
ChemCentre maintains a 24-hour emergency response service by having experienced staff and appropriate equipment on standby round-the-clock. Our work typically involves clandestine laboratory investigations for the police and attending chemical incidents such as workplace fires and spills. As a member of the WA Hazardous Materials Emergency Management Plan (WestPlan-HAZMAT) we have defined responsibilities requiring us to provide chemical support to all government departments and authorities following an emergency involving hazardous materials. Recently ChemCentre became a core participant of HEAT (HAZMAT Emergency Advisory Team) and we also have major responsiblities under the WestPlan CBR (WA Chemical, Biological & Radiological Emergency Management Plan).
Bioanalysis Services
ChemCentre has provided much needed scientific support to Government departments, agencies and industries for more than 100 years. Our analytical and investigative services go beyond the traditional laboratory to provide you with expert solutions to complex and routine problems in these key service areas: Forensics, Environmental, Emergency & Crisis, Food & Agriculture, Bioanalysis and Occupational Health. We also offer collaborative and contract research services.
Occupational Health Services
ChemCentre scientists work with industries to monitor and evaluate the safety of working environments and to assess compliance with occupational exposure regulations. We provide accurate, reliable results which will withstand the most stringent scrutiny. Examples of areas for the application of this service include: mine sites, office buildings, factories, shopping centres, hospitals, schools, highways, ports and ships.
Research Services
ChemCentre carries out many contract and collaborative research projects, working with diverse groups including universities, CSIRO, CRCs, research funding bodies, private companies and others. Our expertise and resources means we are ideally placed to assist with your research and product development initiatives. Collaborative research that attracts ChemCentre funding must have an identifiable benefit to Western Australia, be competitively sourced and gain approval from the ChemCentre Executive. Within these guidelines we undertake research in many areas including, but not limited to: agronomy, forensics, biotechnology, environmental science and occupational health.
