Industrial Off-Gas Treatment
Oxidation of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) Oxidation of Carbon Monoxide (CO)
Many industrial processes emit of volatile organic compounds (VOC) including the use and manufacture of solvents, the production of specialty chemicals, and fertilizer manufacture. Catalytic incineration allows the oxidation process to proceed at a lower temperature than with thermal oxidation, thus saving operating costs. The economic advantage of low operating costs and less stress on equipment materials of construction, compared to alternative technologies, makes catalytic incineration the smart choice for many plants.
EnviCat - Denox and N2O Reduction
EnviCat N2O and EnviCat NOx are used in Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) processes. For tail-gas temperatures below 500º C, selective reduction with EnviCat N2O and EnviCat NOx is the most efficient and cost-effective solution. These catalysts are used with EnviNOx technology, which is an innovative process developed in co-operation with the plant engineering company ThyssenKrupp Uhde GmbH. N2O and NOx are reduced in this process by ammonia and/or short-chain alkanes like methane or propane yielding nitrogen as harmless product.
Clariant - Total Oxidation of Halogenated Hydrocarbons
Clariant has developed highly-active precious metal catalysts that tolerate halogenated hydrocarbons, such as trichloroethylene, perchloro-ethylene, methylchloride, vinylchloride, etc., and also to oxidize these constituents to end products: H2O, CO2 and HCl. Typical applications for these catalysts are exhaust gas treatment in soil remediation and in various chemical/pharmaceutical production processes. Additionally, the EnviCat® HHC series destroys nonchlorinated aromatic and aliphatic compounds.
EnviCat - Purification of Industrial Gases
Clariant’s EnviCat catalysts and Actisorb adsorbents address the high quality demands of technical gases, reducing the level of substances such as hydrocarbons, hydrogen, oxygen, carbon monoxide or sulphur compounds to minimal levels of a few ppm or even ppb. Building on decades of research and practical application, Clariant has developed products providing mechanical stability and durability to ensure efficient and reliable purification of technical gases.
Desulfurization, Deodorization, Smoke Decomposition
Clariant provides catalysts and adsorbents to purify indoor air. Applications include the purification of restaurant emissions, as well as products for in-house use, such as odor and smoke abatement for kitchen stoves. We provide monolithic EnviCat VOC catalysts with low pressure drop and long life time to eliminate cooking odors.
Engine Exhaust Catalysts
Clariant - Catalysts for Stationary Engines and Gas Turbines
Reliable and efficient power supply has become increasingly important across the globe in recent years. State-of-the-art technologies for highly efficient power generation include gas and diesel engines as well as gas turbines and fuel cells. Emissions from these engines can exceed the desired emission levels. In combination with catalytic emission control as a secondary measure, regulatory emission limits can be met and even surpassed, thus reducing the impact on health and the environment.
