Reverse Engineering Services
Conhagen personnel are trained with the tools needed (including a Faro Arm portable coordinate measuring machine) to accurately reverse engineer a large variety of industry related parts. Examples include turbine blades, impellers, seals, casings, shafts, and bearings. Manufacturing drawings developed from the reverse engineering process are used to produce parts that meet or exceed the requirements of the originally manufactured part. The experience and knowledge of Conhagen personnel make it possible to produce manufacturing drawings from severely worn or damaged parts.
Field Service
Conhagen maintains a full-time field service department to meet the on-site needs of its customers. Our supervisors manage crews consisting of millwrights, machinists, welders, and helpers, as required for each job.
Engineering Services
CAD (Computer Aided Design)
Conhagen CAD capabilities include the production of standard 2-D detail drawings, 2-D and 3-D part drawings, and 2-D and 3-D assemblies. Part drawings may be used for the immediate production of manufacturing drawings, or may be archived for later use as per customer need. Assemblies are used for checking the reverse engineering process or third party information, and for the generation of part lists. Conhagen produces CAD drawings using both AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
Equipment Inspection & Evaluation
Conhagen engineers and technicians are available to travel both domestically and internationally for your on-site equipment inspection and evaluation needs. In this capacity we offer the following: Machinery inspection to write repair recommendations and prepare cost quotes. Surplus equipment condition assessment on behalf of potential equipment buyers. Critical measurement verification for component part manufacturing purposes. Dimensional checks such as flatness or concentricity with our Faro Arm (portable coordinate measuring machine). Operational assessment regarding issues such as power production/consumption, bearing temperature, and vibration level. All Conhagen equipment inspection services are supported by the Engineering Department and repair facilities as necessary.
FEA (Finite Element Analysis)
Conhagen Engineers are capable of performing stress analysis calculations using both analytical (for simple geometries), and finite element analysis (FEA) methods. Conhagen uses COSMOS software for FEA on tasks such as turbine blade design verification and compressor impeller manufacturing process verification. FEA methods may also be used to identify component part natural frequencies.

RDA (Rotordynamic Analysis)
Conhagen engineers can conduct lateral and torsional rotordynamic analyses on a wide variety of rotor-bearing systems. Rotordynamic studies are typically performed as part of the design process, but may also be required for retrofits, upgrades, or problematic machinery. Conhagen uses various software packages to analyze bearings, system stability, critical speeds, unbalance response, and a variety of other aspects essential to successful rotor- bearing system design.
Repair
Pump Repair
Conhagen routinely repairs pumps of various sizes and service produced by a wide variety of manufacturers. Types of pumps repaired include: Horizontally split-case, Vertically split-case (barrel), Multi-stage, Vertical, and Positive displacement. Pump repair is supported by an in-house Mechanical Seal Department, and repaired pumps are hydrostatically tested to ensure leak free operation before returning to service.
Compressor Repair
In addition to the mainstays of pump and turbine repair, Conhagen also repairs compressors on a regular basis. Compressors from most manufacturers can be serviced, including horizontally split centrifugal, vertically split (barrel) centrifugal, and also reciprocating compressors. If necessary, Conhagen can repair or manufacture replacement impellers (including those with three dimensional vane designs) at significantly lower cost compared to OEM parts.
Mechanical Seal Repair
Conhagen mechanical seal repair began in support of the pump repair operation, and grew into an independent department capable of repairing seals and furnishing seal parts to end users and other repair facilities alike. The Mechanical Seal Department is capable of refurbishing and repairing seals of virtually any type, from any manufacturer. Examples include: Borg Warner, Chesterton, John Crane, Durametallic, EG&G Sealol, and Flexibox. Conhagen can offer its mechanical seal services at a substantially lower cost relative to purchasing new or remanufactured seals from the OEM. Repairs can be made to both glands and sleeves, with ceramic coating also available. Fast deliveries, 24 hour/day service (as required), and modification recommendations made by `in-house` experts make Conhagen and excellent choice for your mechanical seal needs.
