Engineering Services
CAD (Computer Aided Design)
Conhagen CAD capabilities include the production of standard 2-D detail drawings, 2-D and 3-D part drawings, and 2-D and 3-D assemblies. Part drawings may be used for the immediate production of manufacturing drawings, or may be archived for later use as per customer need. Assemblies are used for checking the reverse engineering process or third party information, and for the generation of part lists. Conhagen produces CAD drawings using both AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
Equipment Inspection & Evaluation
Conhagen engineers and technicians are available to travel both domestically and internationally for your on-site equipment inspection and evaluation needs. In this capacity we offer the following: Machinery inspection to write repair recommendations and prepare cost quotes. Surplus equipment condition assessment on behalf of potential equipment buyers. Critical measurement verification for component part manufacturing purposes. Dimensional checks such as flatness or concentricity with our Faro Arm (portable coordinate measuring machine). Operational assessment regarding issues such as power production/consumption, bearing temperature, and vibration level. All Conhagen equipment inspection services are supported by the Engineering Department and repair facilities as necessary.
FEA (Finite Element Analysis)
Conhagen Engineers are capable of performing stress analysis calculations using both analytical (for simple geometries), and finite element analysis (FEA) methods. Conhagen uses COSMOS software for FEA on tasks such as turbine blade design verification and compressor impeller manufacturing process verification. FEA methods may also be used to identify component part natural frequencies.
Reverse Engineering
Conhagen personnel are trained with the tools needed (including a Faro Arm portable coordinate measuring machine) to accurately reverse engineer a large variety of industry related parts. Examples include turbine blades, impellers, seals, casings, shafts, and bearings. Manufacturing drawings developed from the reverse engineering process are used to produce parts that meet or exceed the requirements of the originally manufactured part. The experience and knowledge of Conhagen personnel make it possible to produce manufacturing drawings from severely worn or damaged parts.
RDA (Rotordynamic Analysis)
Conhagen engineers can conduct lateral and torsional rotordynamic analyses on a wide variety of rotor-bearing systems. Rotordynamic studies are typically performed as part of the design process, but may also be required for retrofits, upgrades, or problematic machinery. Conhagen uses various software packages to analyze bearings, system stability, critical speeds, unbalance response, and a variety of other aspects essential to successful rotor- bearing system design.
