Coulson Ice Blast - IceStorm90 - Professional Alternative to Dry Ice Blasting
The IceStorm90 is an innovative and effective industrial cleaning technology utilizing wet ice (regular ice cubes) as a cleaning media. By utilizing the superior cleaning power of wet ice, not only is the technology much more cost effective to operate, it is also safer and makes waster containment easier. The IceStorm90 works by crushing ice cubes which are then fed into a high pressure airstream and blasted at high speed from a nozzle aimed at the surface to be cleaned. Ice can be made practically for free using standard ice cube machines or freezers or it can be purchased from an international network of partnered ice cube suppliers, who will deliver ice right to where you need it.
Better alternative to Dry Ice Blasting
Ice Blasting is an industrial cleaning technology, like sandblasting or pressure washing. However, instead of using sand or liquid water, crushed ice cubes are propelled at high speed towards the surface to be cleaned. Renders obsolete dry ice blasting technology, since water ice is significantly cheaper and does not pose a risk of asphyxiation to the operator, is more aggressive at cleaning and makes capture and containment of blasted off particulates much easier. Unlike sandblasting, the ice just melts and evaporates away, leaving much less resultant waste to clean up. Ice blasting uses 1/10th of the water compared to pressure washing, meaning that there is much less dampness left over, while also being more aggressive, since a solid particle can impart more impact force than a liquid. Wet ice blasting otherwise known as frozen-ice blasting or water-ice blasting is a non-abrasive cleaning technology where frozen water particles are blasted out of a nozzle using compressed air and propelled towards a surface for industrial cleaning purposes. Similar to dry ice blasting, the process involves blast cleaning a surface with compressed air, and wet ice, in the form of regular ice cubes. Coulson Ice Blast - Dry Ice Blasting
Dry ice blasting is a non-destructive method of safely cleaning surfaces and/or removing unwanted coatings such as paint or rust; and most commonly used for industrial and commercial applications with dry ice as the cleaning media. Dry ice is the solid form of carbon dioxide at temps of (−78.5 °C; −109.3 °F). In very basic terms, the process involves "blast cleaning" a surface with compressed air, and dry ice particles, usually in the form of dry ice pellets. The combination of pressurized air and the presence of dry ice (CO2 pellets) in the blast stream, creates an explosive sublimation. This chain reaction allows for cleaning an intended surface in a non-destructive way, making dry ice blasting a preferred cleaning process when compared with other media blasting methods; such as glass bead, plastic bead, or sand blasting.
