Spray and Particle Characterization

Dantec Dynamics - Phase Doppler Anemometry

Dantec Dynamics` Phase Doppler Anemometry (PDA) (also known as Particle Dynamics Analysis or PDPA) systems measure the size, velocity and concentration of spherical particles, droplets or bubbles suspended in gaseous or liquid flows. A very common application is the analysis of atomized liquids (sprays) in e.g. fuel injection, spray painting, liquid metal spray and pharmaceutical sprays.

Dantec Dynamics - Interferometric Particle Imaging System

Interferometic Particle Imaging (also known as ILIDS) measures the size and velocity of spherical, transparent particles such as spray droplets, glass beads or air bubbles in water. The main component are a laser with light sheet optics, a dual camera system and a software package. An IPI add-on is available for DynamicStudio, Dantec Dynamics` imaging software platform.

Particle Size and Shape Analyzer

The DynamicStudio Shadow Sizer measures size, shape and velocity of particles using backlighting and image analysis software. The Shadow Sizer can measure a wide range of particles types including bubbles, liquid droplets, solid particles and any object with a well-defined contour. Data is analyzed by DynamicStudio and includes histograms of size distribution, spatial distribution plots, cumulative histograms and tables.

Spray Geometry System

The Spray Geometry system is used for characterizing spray shape and quality. It consists of an illumination system, a camera and DynamicStudio software for image acquisition and analysis. Either background illumination for shadowgraphy, or light sheet illumination for Mie scattering or Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF) can be used. For fast pulsed sprays such as fuel sprays, a laser light source is recommended for its short and intense light pulse. To improve the light energy distribution, the ShadowStrobe can be used.
