An Environmental Sensitivity Index Mapping (ESI) was conducted for an oil and gas field belonging to Shell Petroleum Development Corporation in Eastern Nigeria using ARCINFO and ARCVIEW software. The ESI project was integrated into qualifying requirements for EMAS (ISO 14000) certification for the field.

In an Environmental Assessment for Mobil Producing Nigeria, satellite imagery was used to derive a biomass index(BI). The BI was used to guide analysis of habitat productivity and its sustainability.

Oil spill risk was modeled for a field belonging to Shell Petroleum Corporation in Eastern Nigeria by integrating image processing and GIS technology. Aggregate spill risk was derived from wellheads, pipelines, water transport and flow station facility.

Contingency Planning required to manage oil spill events was supported through GIS application development in ARCINFO and ARCVIEW products. Travel Time by Water (TTW) and Helicopter Response Time (HRT) was modeled to predict minimum response time to an oil spill within an oil field belonging to Shell Petroleum Development Corporation.

Ground Water Modeling (GMS) applications were integrated with visaulisation properties of ARCVIEW to support geotechnical and contaminant investigations. These were required inputs into remediation design of Potentially Polluted Areas (PPA) of oil and gas fields belonging to Shell Petroleum Development Corporation and Addax Petroleum Development Company.

Image Processing using ERDAS Imagine and GIS tools using ESRI products are integrated to provide regional mapping for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in Nigeria. Raster layers of Landuse Landcover and vector layers of transportation and hydrology are extracted to support the geospatial framework of the Commission.
