The students will learn the basic building components of structure from the foundation up to the peak of the roof and how the components are assembled during construction. The familiarization of building construction will give the new adjuster a reverse engineering perspective when analyzing a structure during the field-adjusting phase of the claims process. The knowledge of the integration of the building components will aid the adjuster in the fix or replace decisions during the claims handling process.

This class will present information on how to recognize the nature and extent of the distress or changed conditions associated with the most common types of construction defects and understand the contribution of design, installation and material factors. Additionally, the attendee will understand the process of documenting construction defects for potential claims.

This course will provide the student with basic knowledge of how to recognize the nature and extent of the distress or changed conditions associated with the most common types of construction defects, and understand the design-build process by which construction defects are produced including the contribution of design, installation and material factors.  Understand the process of documenting construction defects for potential claims.

The licensee will obtain knowledge of how to recognize and properly inspect structures for earthquake related damages to the extent necessary for handling CEA (California Earthquake Authority) claims.  Licensee will receive a certification valid for three years to allow adjusting of CEA claims in California.  This course is also designed for 8 hours of optional CE credit it other states.

The course will provide the student with basic knowledge to understand how environmental regulations work in various states once a release is discovered. The course allows the student to understand the basic requirements for investigating a release, developing a sampling plan through development of a remedial action plan and costs associated with each level of investigation. The student will be provided a basic understanding through case studies and regulatory requirements that will reinforce the lesson’s practical applications.

The purpose of this class is to provide adjusters, SIU personnel, corporate security professionals and licensed private investigators an overview of ethics and professional standards as they relate to the conduct and general framework of legal investigations or supervision of those conducting legal investigations.

This course will provide the student with the knowledge to understand the principles of how fires initiate, develop and spread. The elements involved in the combustion process will be detailed separately and then collectively in order to understand the requirements for the initiation and spread of fires. Resultant fire patterns and the interpretation of various indicators will aid the students in the thought process involved in determining a fire’s origin.

The course will provide the student with basic knowledge to understand the principles of how fires initiate, develop and spread, and the knowledge of understanding how the sciences apply to a fire scene examination. The elements involved in the combustion process will be detailed separately then collectively in order to understand the requirements for the initiation and spread of fires. Resultant fire patterns and the interpretation of various indicators will aid the student in the thought processes involved in determining a fire’s origin. The systematic approach to a fire scene investigation based on the scientific method will be detailed to aid the student in understanding the need for a thorough investigation. The course will also help insurance adjusters learn the proper steps in issuing an assignment, the necessary information and what to expect out of the investigator and investigation once determination has been made to involve a private origin and cause expert.
