Indoor Air Quality Testing
Principals, staff and associates of EHI have unmatched experience conducting indoor air quality (IAQ) evaluations and inspections in New York (NY) and New Jersey (NJ). We have been at the forefront in developing new methodologies and techniques related to building assessment. Working with a variety of clients, including government agencies, private businesses, and individual consumers, EHI has taken the lead in: accurately assessing the indoor air quality in buildings, locating sources of problems (for example Testing for Mold, Bacteria or other fungus), developing remediation strategies. EHI’s goal is to define the most cost effective and cost efficient solutions and implement corrective action in the most timely manner possible. EHI takes an interdisciplinary approach to diagnosing and correcting IAQ problems. With highly-trained professionals in industrial hygiene, toxicology, engineering, chemistry, and environmental science, EHI has the required skills and expertise to address the complex issues associated with IAQ projects. Both NJ and NY recently announced new Asbestos Regulations. EHI staff can respond to both the NJ Asbestos Regulation and the NY Asbestos Regulations on your behalf.
Construction Emissions Monitoring
Demolition and heavy construction causes heavy dust and particle emissions and potential hazards to workers, the community and the surroundings. There are regulations, guidelines and site specific job requirements for dust and particle suppression during construction and demolition. EHI has the capability to monitor airborne particulate levels using real-time particulate monitors. The monitors are portable battery operated laser photometers with real-time mass concentration readout and data logging capability. We are capable of monitoring fugitive dust and particle emissions both indoors and outdoors. Our results provide documentation of compliance and/or show the need for additional engineering controls.
Phase I & II Site Assessments
During the 1980`s the Federal government and many states enacted legislation placing environmental liability on property owners. Environmental liability typically results from potential, current, or past releases of oil or hazardous materials that present risks to human health, public safety, or the environment. With the growing awareness of environmental issues and the enactment of these laws, greater incentives now exist for the assessment of environmental impacts associated with past and current operations and practices at facilities and properties. EHI principals, staff, and associates possess a diverse range of technical expertise and provide their New York (NY) and New Jersey (NJ) clients with a broad spectrum of environmental assessment services.
Lead Paint Testing
Environmental Health Investigations (EHI) is an EPA licensed lead inspection firm. EHI has all the necessary licenses required to conduct lead paint testing in both NY and NJ. In NJ, legislation called the “Lead Hazard Control Assistance Act” requires that all multifamily rental properties be maintained in a lead-safe condition. In NY, lead-based paint regulations forced property owners to change the way they deal with painted surfaces in their properties. `Local Law 1 of 2004` broadens owner responsibilities in dealing with renovation projects, refinancing and day-to-day operations.
