About Us
Through our Carbon Footprint Reduction Program, ESG Energy certifies organizations that have made a minimum 10% reduction in their greenhouse gas emissions.
Stop the Bleeding. Plug the Holes. Verify and Certify.
ESG Energy helps businesses, building contractors, non-profit organizations and individuals through innovative and world-class consulting services related to utility management, energy use reduction, sustainability and becoming carbon neutral.
Our web-based utility management tool, UtiliStream, presents utility data in a way that makes managing and buying energy easier. Our energy consultants identify rate errors and regulatory changes that reduce your total spend, effectively stopping the bleeding.
Ever wonder why you pay so much for energy? While you can't control OPEC, you may be able to control the systems and buildings serving your organization, increasing efficiency by plugging the holes where energy escapes.
Through our Carbon Footprint Reduction Program, ESG Energy verifies energy use reductions and certifies businesses that have made a minimum 10% reduction in their greenhouse gas emissions.
In addition to supplying third-party certifications for the EPA, NAHB Research Center and US Green Building Council, we help businesses chart a path toward true sustainability - a path that begins with analyzing energy and resources expenses and ends with a stronger organization that is carbon neutral.
Values
ESG Energy is unique in that it has brought together scientists, engineers and analysts who have worked for the Department of Energy and in the sustainable development, environmental health & safety and indoor environmental quality specialties for many years. ESG Energy's qualifications includes two mechanical engineers, six BPI-Certified Building Analysts, three RESNET HERS Raters, RESNET Trainers in both HERS and WaterSense programs, a LEED Green Associate and three NAHB Green Verifiers on staff. The award-winning firm is an EPA-licensed WaterSense provider and RESNET-certified rating provider.
Our Commitment To Sustainability
ESG Energy has been promoting sustainable practices for ourselves, our clients and community for many years. While we have focused on certifying sustainable buildings for a variety of government and industry programs, our services have grown to include certifying the operations and people who comprise every successful organization.
We strive to lead by example in our operations and practices, while recognizing that sustainability is a complex goal that requires a collaborative effort. We appreciate challenges and see them as opportunities to improve. A few of the ways in which we have managed our own sustainability are highlighted below.
In 2009, we decided to solicit a third party to evaluate our own company practices. We opted to complete the Green Plus Certification evaluation, which is a triple bottom line certification program for green and sustainable businesses offered by the Institute for Sustainable Development. The Institute is located 50 miles away in Durham NC, therefore, site visits did not involve air travel for their staff.
Despite the downturn in new home construction, ESG Energy has continued to be a leading provider of Performance Building services to include HERS ratings for the EPA's ENERGY STAR Home program in North Carolina. In 2010, we qualified over 170 ENERGY STAR Homes, which is the equivalent of saving nearly 500,000 lbs of coal, planting nearly 140 acres of trees, and offsetting the emissions from more than 81 vehicles. The EPA honored ESG in April 2010 with its prestigious LEADERSHIP IN HOUSING award. We are also a leading provider of green build verifications for the National Association of Homebuilders.
In addition to helping others offset their own carbon use, ESG Energy purchases carbon offsets to help neutralize our own carbon emissions.
Our financial sustainability has been honored through recognition as a North Carolina Top 100 Small Business in 2009 and 2010 by Business Leader Media and being named a 'Top 25 Environmental & Ecological Consulting Firm in the Triad' in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 & 2010.
