Andrew studied at Newton Rigg College, Penrith for a Higher National Diploma in Environmental Land Management before continuing his studies at the University of Hertfordshire. Following a "Fast Track Route" he took the second and fourth year of the course before graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Studies (Conservation and Recreation Management). He then went on to take a Postgraduate Masters Degree in Rural Estate Management at the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester.

Andrew is a Member of the Royal Agricultural College and a Full Member of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management and The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (Rural Practice, and Environmental Faculties).

Andrew, who has an agricultural background, has worked throughout the United Kingdom and the United States of America. He spent 4 years working as a Rural Development Consultant for the European Union and United Nations in Namibia, Africa before returning to his home in South Cumbria in 2004 and founding Envirotech.
