Erosion Control Blankets
Erosion control blankets (ECBs) are typically biodegradable, open-weave blankets that provide temporary cover and support for establishing vegetation on bare soil areas. ECBVerdyol is a leading manufacturer of high-quality revegetation, erosion and sediment control products. Our products include erosion control blankets, turf reinforcement mats (TRMs), Stenlogs (straw wattles), hydraulically applied biotic soil amendments, and installation systems.
Changing The Industry Ever since our founding in Riverton, Manitoba, Canada, innovation and quality in rolled erosion control products are what you can expect from Erosion Control Blanket. The Erosion Control Blanket team understands the importance of producing quality erosion control blankets and turf reinforcement mattings. Our premium line of blankets and mats are designed to protect grass seed and topsoil from the forces of erosion. All our equipment is state of the art and is completely computer controlled. This guarantees you a blanket/mat of even quality throughout and a wide variety of RECPs. Erosion Control Blanket products are distributed throughout North America and our machine was the first in North America to manufacture erosion control blankets and mats from 4 to 16 feet wide. Many of our products contain golden summer wheat straw. Erosion Control Blanket also manufactures some of the most advanced and innovative tools to speed and ensure blanket and mat installation. For example: The “Rifle M100” staple gun (patent pending) is the most reliable cartridge stapling system on earth to ensure effective staple placement. Constructed of steel with an open design, getting staples in and out of the gun for installing erosion control blankets, turf reinforcement mats, erosion control netting, or geotextile fabrics is easy as 1-2-3. The precision of the “Factor M” cartridge staples along with a thinner, yet stiffer wire allows for rapid penetration of the staple even through ice and frozen ground. With 100 staples per load you save an amazing amount of time not having to reload or install single staples by hand. To further improve rolled erosion controlled product installation we created the Mechanical Unrolling Device (M.U.D.). The MUD is simply pulled behind an ATV, tractor, truck or anything with a 2-inch ball hitch. Making one person handling of the 800 square yard, 400 lb Big Daddy rolls a cinch. By combining the innovation of the M.U.D., Rifle, and Factor M cartridge staples, ErosionControlBlanket.Com provides the perfect innovative tools for contractors who need to ensure quick, accurate, and effective rolled erosion control product installation.
Erosion Control Blanket was born of the idea to make contractors more efficient. Created in the winter of 2000 by owner and President, Mark Myrowich, he thought about ways to lower the labor costs associated with rolled erosion control products (the most expensive contractor expense) through innovative product design and improved quality.
Mark started in the erosion control industry as the owner and operator of an erosion control contracting company. It was during a blanket installation job that the idea for Erosioncontrolblanket.com came to him. While sitting on the tail gate of his half ton pickup during a coffee break, Mark looked at the coir fiber blanket he was installing and noticed an industrial hemp field near by, he thought that hemp would be a great inexpensive alternative to coir and thus the idea to create a manufacturing business.
Needing another labor savings idea, Erosioncontrolblanket.com purchased a 16 foot wide manufacturing machine (unheard of at the time) to save contractors on overlap of product.
Erosioncontrolblanket.com started at what is now referred to as the “Old Plant” the original home of Riverton Boat Works (the place built ships), ECB began production with five employees and one machine. Within two short years ECB had outgrown its original home and we moved into our current location just a little ways up the highway from where it all began.
In 2006, ECB acquired Verdyol Plant Research in Cookstown, Ontario, a RECP and Hydraulic Mulch manufacturer north of Toronto.
Since then ECB has been growing bigger and stronger each year. ECB has gone from a one product line that included four items to over 60 types and lengths of RECP’s, Hydraulic Mulches, three sizes of Wattles, a selection of fastening systems including our very own Rifle M100 staple gun and Factor M Staples as well as our M.U.D. (Mechanical Unrolling Device) for use with our Big Daddy Rolls. With over 60 employees across Canada and North America, ErosionControlBlanket.com leads the way!
