Alpha-Media - Depth Filter Media

Alpha-Media Filter Pads are made with 100% cellulose fibers. No fillers, no resins, just pure cellulose fibers. These grades, 140, 160 and 175 are used for intermediate to coarse filtration, in such applications as edible oils, insulating oils, cough syrups, plating solutions, fruit juices and others. Alpha-Media™ can also be supplied with wet strength resins for those applications where wet strength is important.

Micro-Media - Filter Pad

The addition of filter aids and wet strength resin differentiates the Micro-Media Series from the Alpha-Media Series. But that is not where the differences end. The addition of these ingredients improves retention efficiencies by adding internal surface area and the positive charge known as Zeta-Potential. Zeta-Potential is the positively charged site within the matrix of fibers and filter aid which attracts negatively charged particles which may be smaller than the pore sizes available in the filter pad.

Micro-Media - Model L Series - Depth Filter Media

Micro-Media L Series Depth Filter Media, is specifically designed for use in applications where proteins are present, such as blood fractionation and recombinant DNA derived products. These particular types of applications demand specific controls on pyrogens and extractables. Physical attributes, unique to such applications can lower the surface tension of the media and cause them to release extractables, which can cause problems with the LAL testing used both in process and as a final release. These extractables can cause “false positives” by reacting with a Factor G in the LAL reagent and cellulose components.

Micro-Media - Model XL Series - Filter Pads

Micro-Media XL Series Depth Filter Media, formulated with cellulose, wet strength resin and Celpure diatomite, an ultra-pure form of Diatomaceous Earth manufactured only by Advanced Minerals Corporation, is specifically designed for use in critical applications. DE can now meet the high quality standards dictated by 21CFR211.160 (b). Traditional “food-grade” forms of DE rarely meet USP-NF standards.

Micro-Media - Model LXL Series - Filter Media

For the ultimate in quality assurance, ErtelAlsop LXL Series Media is formulated with both high purity cellulose and Celpure high quality Diatomaceous Earth. High purity cellulose significantly reduces the amount of extractables released while Celpure ensures higher flow rates.

Micro-Clear - Activated Carbon Depth Filter Media

Activated carbon is highly porous over a broad range of pore sizes, from cracks and crevices to molecular dimensions. It is this porosity that provides activated carbon’s unique adsorptive properties. Generally, activated carbon contains surface areas in the range of 500-2000 m²/gm. “Activation” refers to the development of the adsorption properties of carbon. Adsorption occurs when the organic molecules bond to the internal pores of the activated carbon. This happens in pores slightly larger than the molecules being adsorbed, which makes it extremely important to match the molecule being adsorbed to the pore size of the activated carbon.
