ESU-services Ltd. is specialized in elaborating high quality life cycle inventories with a fully transparent documentation. About 900 our of 4000 unit process data sets have been provided for the ecoinvent database. The project data base of ESU services covers more than thousand of further of life cycle inventories (LCI) in the EcoSpold or SimaPro format. When desired we collect and analyse detailed LCI-data for your studies. Several formats can be used for the import and export of such data. Climate change is considered to be one of the most important global environmental challenges of this century. It is a vital interest of companies to know and communicate the carbon footprints of their activities and their products and services. That is why more and more companies assess the carbon footprint of products and services (PCF). The British Standard PAS 2050 is the first product carbon footprint standard available worldwide. WBCSD/WRI, CEN and ISO are working on international standards of carbon footprints of products and of Scope 3 assessment of greenhouse gas emissions of companies.

In recent years water footprinting has increasingly gained attention. In many regions it is recognized that agricultural and industrial processes increase the water scarcity which can lead to severe effects on the environment, such as diminished vegetation and biodiversity loss. Water scarcity also poses a risk concerning sufficient food supply and diminishes the long-term availability of water resources. Water scarcity is thus considered to be a major environmental issue.  

The overall goal of an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is to provide relevant, verified and comparable information to meet various customer and market needs. The international EPD®system has the ambition to help and support organisations to communicate the environmental performance of their products (goods and services) in a credible and understandable way. We support such product declarations by investigating the necessary technical data and evaluating the environmental impacts of several types of products.

Life cycle Assessment and analyises requires efficient aids to processing large data sets. For developing central computer science solutions for large firms and research institutions we offer on the one hand technical and contentwise know-how. On the other hand we provide also project management and - within situation - also mediation services. The enterprise co-operates with proven computer science specialists with large LCA- experience.

The research activities contain the further development of LCA-related methodical topics. We also develop criteria for environmental evaluation for enterprises, environmental and professional associations: Either for an environmental monitoring of companies (locations) or products (e.g. ecological balance criteria for the assignment of a label for "green electricity").

Staff members of ESU-services work in several international and national organisations as experts for the development of standards, laws or guidelines for life cycle assessment.
