Flotender

Flotender is a division of Filtrific, a company that has been manufacturing high-quality water feature products for ten years. Filtrific’s water feature line was originally designed not only for water features, but also with the forethought of reducing residential water waste using rainwater harvesting and greywater recycling. Ten years later, the need for water conservation solutions is so great that Filtrific has created Flotender greywater recycling systems. In conjunction with the Filtrific rainwater filter at last utilizes the full potential of the Filtrific product line. Manufacturer of greywater recycling and rainwater harvesting systems. A company committed to conservation and reducing residential water use.

The Flotender product line utilizes the same durable, professional grade products that have been successfully used throughout the United States in both residential and commercial water features. Our continual drive toward innovation and creating a higher standard of product has resulted in enhanced technology that makes Flotender products the ultimate in water conservation and the leader in the push to reduce residential & commercial water usage while simultaneously preserving beautiful landscapes.

We view greywater as a valuable resource that should be efficiently used to it’s full potential. By filtering and pressurizing the grey water to the requirements suitable for advanced drip irrigation technology, the Flotender and GreyLink systems maximize the watering potential of the available greywater. For a simpler way to get started, the ShowerSpring system offers you a way to irrigate your landscape every time you take a shower. This gravity-fed system does not require any modifications to the exiting home's plumbing. Greywater recycling isn’t just about collecting greywater, but also reusing in the most efficient way possible.

What is Greywater? Greywater (also spelled grey water, graywater, or gray water) is any non-industrial wastewater generated from sources such as bathroom sinks, washing machines, showers and bathtubs. Flotender™ considers these greywater sources to be viable sources for landscape irrigation and all Flotender greywater recycling systems are able to effectively filter water from these sources for reuse in drip irrigation.

Flotender & GreyLink Grey Water Systems

The Flotender System filters & pressurizes greywater to be reused in drip irrigation. Both commercial and residential greywater systems are available in a variety of different sizes and have been installed both internationally and domestically and on projects ranging from small to large in scale. We believe the best use for greywater is for landscape drip irrigation because the greywater doesn’t need to be treated to the extent as it does for uses such as toilet flushing or spray irrigation. In addition, since 60 to 70 percent of the typical water budget is used on outdoor irrigation. Using greywater for landscape irrigation is a use that almost always uses all the greywater produced on the property. Reusing on-site greywater helps to reduce the amount of potable drinking water required by the landscape while allowing the landscape vegetation to flourish with the repurposed water.

Flexible Design

The Flotender Greywater Filter has been designed to conform to a variety of different system configurations and uses. Three different sized grey water processors and additional grey water surge tanks can be added to adapt to a variety of applications. Filtrific’s Flotender system has been used on many residential and commercial projects ranging from single family households in California to U.S. military bases in Africa.

Rock-Solid Engineering

Flotender utilizes an advanced mechancal grey water treatment system which features an ultra-fine two-stage 150 mesh filter. This helps to to ensure that regardless of the style or brand of drip irrigation system installed, Flotender provides more than adequate filtration to keep the system clog-free.

Universally Compatible

The Flotender Greywater Filter has been designed to conform to a variety of different system configurations and uses. Three different sized grey water processors and additional grey water surge tanks can be added to adapt to a variety of applications. Filtrific’s Flotender system has been used on many residential and commercial projects ranging from single family households in California to U.S. military bases in Africa.

Using Stored Rainwater as a Backup Water Source

Rainwater can be collected in a separate cistern and integrated into the Flotender greywater recycling system as a backup water supply.

Storing Greywater

In most of the United States it is illegal to store untreated greywater for more that 24 hours. Furthermore, if you have a conventional landscape with lawn and shrubs the amount of stored greywater will most likely be insufficient to properly irrigate the landscape and will require some amount of potable water to be added to the system. Because you will most likely have no leftover greywater on a daily basis, investing in a large storage tank or an expensive greywater treatment system is unnecessary. If you would like to reduce the amount of potable water supplementing your greywater system, install drought tolerant plants which require less water to flourish.

Greywater Treatment

Flotender is designed to mechanically separate the the debris particles from the inflowing greywater, producing greywater that is debris-free and can be used in a drip irrigation system. In a Flotender system the greywater is not being stored for more than 24 hours nor is the produced greywater intended for use in spray irrigation. Without long term storage or spray irrigation usage, the greywater does not necessitate further treatment. Flotender does however provide optional ozone and uv filtration for applications that have specific treatment requirements.

With Flotender grey water is precisely filtered and delivered to a drip irrigation system to efficiently water the landscape without the unnecessary complexity or cost of biological or chemical treatment processes which may require testing and annual inspections.
