Flour - Model API 600 - Gate Valve
FLV Gate valve (also referred to as a wedge or slide valve) is a device that fully opens and fully closes to start and stop flow. The valve contains a disc or gate that slides into the path of the flow to block the fluid path and out of the way of the flow to reopen the path. Gate valves are typically used when a straight-line flow of fluid and minimum flow restriction are needed. They are well suited for high pressure and high temperatures, and can be used for a wide variety of fluid. Because the gate valve is symmetrical, either end can be the inlet, allowing flow to enter through either direction of the valve, otherwise known as bidirectional. There are many designs for the Gate valve, including rising and non-rising stem, knife, slab, and expanding.
Flour - Model API 6D - Ball Valves
FLV Ball valve, along with the butterfly valve and plug valve, are part of the family of quarter-turn valves. FLV Ball valve has a spherical design device with a hole in it used for isolation and on-and-off service. The ball is always in the fluid path. Because this valve is symmetrical, either end can be the inlet allowing flow to come through either direction, and can be used for changing flow direction. Unlike other valves, the Ball valve may have different designs, but they are all assembled the same way. Ball valves have many configurations: floating, trunnion mounted, union body, split body, end entry, top entry, 3-piece, etc. There are also special service designs: cryogenic, metal to metal, subsea, severe conditions, double block, and bleed.
Flour - Model BS 1873 - Globe Valves
FLV Globe valve uses a disc-type/plug, which is always in the path of the flow, to regulate the flow volume; this process is called throttling. A Globe can also be used as a stop valve (for starting and stopping flow). Globe valves are generally characterized for their spherical body with the two halves of the body being separated by an internal baffle. This has an opening that forms a seat onto which the disc, connected to a stem, can be screwed in (if operated manually) or slid in (if automated) to close the valve. However many globe valve designs do not have the traditional round body-shape. Still, valves that contain the same mechanism are referred to as Globe valves. Globe valves have several types of designs: globe, angle, Y-pattern, T-pattern, control, etc.
Flour - Model BS 1868 - Swing Check Valves
FLV Check valve is a one-way valve allowing fluid to flow through one opening and leave through the other. The general purpose of this valve is to prevent backflow (flow in the opposite direction). Check valves inherit the term "cracking pressure". When the cracking pressure is reached, the valve will open. When the pressure drops below the cracking pressure and/or back-pressure occurs, the valve closes. The way a Check valve operates is ideal for preventing contamination from fluid flowing into separate services connected to a common header. This valve works automatically, and typically with no human or external control, such as a valve handle or stem. Check valves have different configurations with the most common being the swing, tilting-disc, wafer, lift, and stop-check valves.
