Focus Wildlife is an emergency resource development organization working collaboratively with government, industry, and NGOs to address region-specific emergency wildlife issues. Our mission is to develop and offer resources to aid the plight of wildlife impacted by human activities through response, planning, training, research, and education.
Focus Wildlife International was founded in 2004 by Christian Battaglia, a Swiss national and Canadian born Lana Battaglia. Chris is a veteran emergency responder, has travelled the world over the last quarter century responding to oiled wildlife emergencies. Chris holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Learning and Teacher Education. Lana is a wildlife rehabilitation manager with a diverse background in raptor, aquatic bird, oiled wildlife and all-species rehabilitation.
Focus Wildlife was developed to fulfill a distinct and communicated need for oiled wildlife service provision in the Pacific Northwest. Due to a similar and pressing need in Canada, in 2007 Focus Wildlife Canada was incorporated. Since its inception, Focus Wildlife has provided contingency planning, training and consultation services to various industry, ngo and government entities in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Washington State, Oregon, Hawaii, Micronesia and Asia.
