Forensics Detectors was established in 2017 on a mission to offer affordable and innovative gas detectors, meters, and analyzers. Forensics Detectors has grown to include virtually every major type of gas meter and detector to various sectors such as oil and gas, R&D, transport, food, construction, electronics, and occupational safety. Forensics Detectors is dedicated to providing the finest professional-grade gas measurement, detection, and monitoring equipment with expert technical support. The Forensics Detectors story begins with our chief engineer, Dr. Koz. He began inventing electronic gadgets at the age of 10 and by the time he was a teenager, he was building and selling more complex products. Today, FORENSICS DETECTORS designs, develops and manufactures products that meet Dr. Koz`s strict technical requirements.
These innovative devices included regulated 13.8v DC power supplies, which were a hit with amateur radio operators at flea markets in Melbourne, Australia.
At the age of 20, while studying electronic engineering, Dr. Koz was granted a special scholarship at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. He was invited to become a technical member of the graduate Sensor Technology Laboratory, spearheaded by Professor Wojtek Wlodarski.
In the Sensor Tech Lab, Dr. Koz was in heaven. It was his first endeavor working with real engineers and technologists. He was assigned one project, then two, then three and so on... he designed and developed numerous smoke analyzers, combustion analyzers, humidity sensors, toxic gas detectors, and carbon monoxide interlock systems. He spent up to 15 hours in the lab daily, developing devices for various projects while completing his PhD studies. Professor Wlodarski nicknamed Dr. Koz as the “action man.'
His highlight in the Sensor Lab was his invention and patent of the world's first vehicle carbon monoxide sensor system. Highlighted in the national news, this innovative device prevents driver fatigue and suicides. Dr. Koz traveled around the world three times during his PhD studies, presenting his inventions and ideas at international conferences and industry whales, from Siemens in Germany to the Ford Motor Company in Michigan. Dr. Koz continued to expand his interests, further developing alcohol breathalyzers, electronic noses, combustion analyzers, and ozone sensors that outperformed the world’s best.
During his graduate studies, Dr. Koz participated in a conference trip to the May 2001 IEEE Semiannual Vehicular Technology Conference in Rhodes, Greece. He decided to make a side trip to visit the magical Santorini island, where he met his future wife. They married and settled in Los Angeles, California, where he became an engineering professor with UCLA.
At UCLA Dr. Koz was active in nanotechnology for sensors, nanoelectronics for computing, and nanomaterials for telecommunications while collaborating with the Department of Defense, Intel, IBM, GlobalFoundries, and MICRON. He published with the Nobel Laureate Prof Stoddart, invented MOF sensors with BASF researchers, and led a tech venture startup company that commercialized high speed carbon electronics for 5G communications.
To his surprise, numerous law firms across the US sought out Dr. Koz for his expertise and consulted him on legal cases involving forensic toxic gas detection. While working on various legal cases, he was astounded by the number of missing products that could prevent toxic gas exposure. After a few years of simmering in these thoughts, the 'action man' established FORENSICS DETECTORS in 2017. The goal was crystal clear. To offer consumers the most affordable and innovative gas detectors, meters, and analyzers - while educating consumers with videos, tutorials, easy-to-read manuals, easy-to-use products, and world expert technical support.
The company operates from the scenic Palos Verdes Peninsula in Los Angeles, California, where most of the company operations such as design, quality verification, calibration, warehousing, and shipping are accomplished.
The cable business channel, CNBC highlighted the work FORENSICS DETECTORS has undertaken during the COVID pandemic. The company has stepped up manufacturing and international distribution of:
- Ozone Detectors for pathogen sterilization (plane, bus, car, police, homeland security among others)
- Oxygen Analyzers for oxygen purity measurements (oxygen machine supply, oxygen monitoring and purity check)
- Carbon Dioxide Monitors to minimize pathogen infection risk (CO2 monitoring in schools, classrooms, restaurants and indoor public spaces).
Each day is a blessing for Dr. Koz. He lives his dream and does what he loves by leading a team of talented employees and delivering innovative products to the world. Dr. Koz also loves spending time with his wife and his three children, going to the beach, grilling burgers, and having a cold beer. He is a black belt jiu jitsu practitioner and teaches at South Bay Jiu Jitsu in Hermosa Beach, California.
