Mike Deed, Managing Director of Ipswich-based Geoquip Water Solutions, ran the London Marathon in April last year and raised thousands of pounds for Orchid, the only UK cancer charity that focuses entirely on male-specific cancers. This is his third fund raising venture for Orchid and Mike is a dedicated supporter of both this charity and many other local and national causes.

“As a survivor of a male-specific cancer I’m only too aware of how important it is to bring these cancers into the public eye,” explained Mike. “This year alone 37,000 men will be diagnosed with a male-specific cancer and the Orchid charity exists to save men’s lives  through pioneering research and promoting awareness.”

“Like most men, I tend to ignore health issues, but when I found a lump, going to the Doctor immediately meant I was one of the lucky ones. If in some small way I can help to make a difference and increase awareness of these cancers then the long training sessions, sore feet and muscle pain will all be worth it!”
