Soil Nail Launcher, Inc., Landslide Solutions, Inc., and GeoStabilization Inc. are pleased to announce their merger and formal expansion into Canada under the new name GeoStabilization International (GSI). GeoStablization International began through the vision of founders Robert Barrett, P.G. and Al Ruckman, P.E.. Both had spent 30+ year careers in public sector transportation and became known internationally for their contributions and leadership in geotechnical research, design, construction, and maintenance. Building on their broad experience and inspired by their research discovery, the Soil Nail Launcher, they formed Soil Nail Launcher, Inc. a landslide remediation company. In 2008, sons Colby Barrett, P.E. and Tim Ruckman took over the company and have continued the philosophy of their fathers. Barrett and Ruckman continued to build from that foundation into today’s GeoStabilization International, the leading geohazard mitigation company in North America.
GeoStabilization International credits its success to the founding philosophy of serving the client with the newest technologies, the best solutions, and the fastest possible service. Through many years of training, experience, and this founding philosophy, GSI engineers and constructors now stand as the most qualified and most experienced in the industry.
GSI’s focus on bringing new technologies to the geohazard repair industry reduces project time, cost, and also minimizes environmental impact. Our geotechnical engineering staff focuses on the most efficient use of component materials (for example, using steel and fiberglass in tensile applications rather than in bending or shear) while our field operations group focuses on creating purpose-built equipment to maximize installation speed while minimizing site disturbance. For example, our Soil Nail Launchers™ can install up to 250 20-foot long nails in a day, using an excavator mounted carrier that eliminates the need for access roads. Our fleet of purpose-built wagon drills, spider-excavator mounted drills, and vertical access air-track drills can be utilized on slopes of any inclination to drill holes up to 6-inches in diameter up to 200-feet deep – again, with no need for access roads or significant site disturbance, making GSI’s approach ideal not only for difficult access sites, but also for environmentally sensitive areas and coastal/riparian sites.
