Geotomographie - Model WRU1 - Novel Wireless Trigger Unit

The wireless trigger unit WTU1 is used to replace trigger cables if e.g. roads or rivers prevent a continuous seismic measurement. e wireless trigger unit WTU1 works with nearly all impulse sources including sledge hammers. The wireless trigger unit WTU1 consists of two boxes which include the sender and the receiver unit. e sender will be connected to the source and the receiver to the seismograph. e sender and receiver units are placed in small and robust plastic cases which allow an easy operation.

Geotomographie - Model SBS1000 Magnum - P-Wave Source

The borehole source SBS1000 Magnum is designed for P-wave tomography between boreholes up to 1000 m depth. The SBS1000 Magnum consists of three parts housing the complete high-voltage power supply for charging up to about 3 KV. The source can be connected to a GO-4 cable head and a standard logging unit (4-conductor cable). The unit is powered from surface by means of a 230 VAC power supply.

Geotomographie - Model BHC1000 - Digital Hydrophone String

The hydrophone string BHC1000 is a fully digitized borehole receiver unit running on 4-conductor logging cable. The BHC1000 consists of max. 24 hydrophones moulded to a multicore cable. A digitization unit is placed on top of the string and can be connected to the standard 4-conductor logging cable. At surface a control unit is connected to the logging winch and directly to laptop.

Borehole Sources - Sources for IPG5000

Geotomographie - Model SBS42 - P-Wave Borehole Source

The borehole source SBS42 generates compressional waves (P) in water filled boreholes. It is used for is used for P-wave tomography which is a standard method for high-resolution geological structure exploration between boreholes. P-waves are generated in one borehole and being transmitted to the other. P-wave tomography measurements are easy to analyze due to the easy recognition of the first arriving seismic waves. Sparker pulses are released through manual or automatic triggering of the impulse generator (IPG5000) controlled by the remote control unit (RCU). The seismic signals are highly repeatable.

Geotomographie - Model BIS-SH - S-Wave Borehole Source

The borehole source BIS-SH generates horizontally polarized shear waves (SH) and compressional waves (P). This source is used for crosshole testing and S-wave tomography. The S-wave tomography links high-resolution borehole geophysics to soil dynamic properties. S-waves need to be generated with different polarization in order to be easily recognized during data processing. Due to its shorter wavelength compared to P-waves the S-wave provides a much higher resolution. The source works in dry or water filled boreholes and can be used in vertical or horizontal boreholes. The source is coupled to the borehole wall by a pneumatic clamping system. Mechanical impulses are released through manual or automatic triggering of the impulse generator (IPG5000) controlled by the remote control unit (RCU). The seismic signals are highly repeatable.

Borehole Sources - Sources for IPG800

Geotomographie - Model BIS-SH-DS - S-Wave Borehole Source

The borehole source BIS-SH-DS generates horizontally polarized shear waves (SH) and compressional waves (P). The seismic signals are highly repeatable. The source works in dry or water filled boreholes and can be used in vertical or horizontal boreholes. Energy released by the IPG800 discharges through a system of coupled coils. They generate a mechanical impact to the borehole wall that releases seismic waves. The borehole source is coupled to the borehole wall by a pneumatic clamping system (inflatable bladder). The orientation of the source is controlled from surface by a torsionally stiff hose.

Borehole Receivers

Geotomographie - Model BHC5 - Hydrophone String for Borehole Receivers

The hydrophone string BHC5 is used to receive P-waves in water filled boreholes. This receiver is used for P-wave tomography is a standard method for high-resolution geological structure exploration between boreholes. P-waves are generated in one borehole and being transmitted to the other. P-wave tomography measurements are easy to analyze due to the easy recognition of the first arriving seismic waves. The BHC5 reciever consists cable drum, hydrophones moulded on cable and battery box for pre-amplication. Accessories, such as a cable spooler device for cable on drums and a clamping device supports a proper positioning and clamping the cable during operation.

Geotomographie - Model BGK5 - Borehole Geophone

The borehole geophone BGK5 is used to receive P- and S-waves in dry or water-filled boreholes. The geophone can be mainly applied for crosshole tests using the BIS-SH-DS seismic source and the generator IPG800 and downhole tests with e.g. a Sledge Hammer. This borehole geophone BGK5 consists of four horizontal sensors, separated by 45° intervals, and one vertical sensor. The geophone is coupled to the borehole wall by a pneumatic clamping system (inflatable bladder). Air is supplied to the BGK5 through an electro-pneumatic hybrid cable with a Kevlar tension string. A connector terminates the cable to the seismograph.

Geotomographie - Model BGK3/7 - Borehole Geophone

The borehole geophone BGK3 is used to receive P- and S-waves in dry or water filled boreholes. This geophone can be mainly applied for crosshole tests using the BIS-SH S-wave source and the generator IPG5000 and downhole tests with a Sledge Hammer. The borehole geophone BGK3 consists of a tri-axial sensor whereas the BGK7 consists of six horizontal sensors, separated by 30° intervals, and one vertical sensor. The geophone is coupled to the borehole wall by a pneumatic clamping system (inflatable bladder). Air is supplied to the BGK3/7 through an electro-pneumatic hybrid cable with a Kevlar tension string. A magnetic compass shows azimuthal deviation to North and can be used to get the orientation of the geophone in the borehole. The cable is terminated by a connector to the seismograph.

Geotomographie - Model BGK1000 - Digital Borehole Geophone

The BGK1000 is manufactured by Hinz Messtechnik GmbH and exclusively distributed by Geotomographie. It is a digital borehole geophone used to receive P- and S-waves in dry and water filled boreholes and applicable for downhole tests also for greater depths.
