Side Well Melters

Gillespie + Powers, Inc. remains one of the leading suppliers of large production Side Well Melting Furnaces dating back to the early commercialization of this method of melting scrap aluminum. As the techniques for metal recovery
became more refined, it was obvious that substantial reduction in metal losses could be derived by the introduction of scrap aluminum in an external molten pool of metal attached to the main hearth of the furnace. This lead to the derivation of the class of furnaces now known as Side Well Melters.

Round Top Melter

The Gillespie + Powers, Inc. Round Top Melter was designed for rapid charging and melting of large quantities of metal. Can utilize reverse flow concept which provides for effective use of flue gas discharged from the main hearth to preheat sows, a inexpensive means of supplementing the direct charge melter capacity. Greater productivity, increased efficiency. Improves melt rates, decreases melt loss. Incorporates Gillespie + Powers, Inc. innovations and applications for full utilization of thermal capacity of the melter.

Scrap Drying Furnaces

Gillespie + Powers, Inc. is involved with the design and installation of various types of drying equipment for the removal of moisture and other contaminants from aluminum and other non-ferrous scraps to provide for the safe charging and submerging of this material for melting. This equipment usually involves careful attention to emission collection.

Dry Hearth Melters

Gillespie + Powers, Inc. is the industry leader for design and installations of large production Dry Hearth Melters. These systems provide an enclosed slopped refractory hearth for the rapid, high efficiency melting of medium and heavy solid scrap aluminum charges. Direct hearth provides the maximum achievable melt rates with total safety assurances as it relates to potential moisture inclusions in the charge. Most of the Gillespie + Powers, Inc. Dry Hearths are connected to some form of a reservoir chamber where the metal is further utilized in process either by direct casting or transfer to other holders.
