Groundwater & Environmental Services, Inc. (GES) services
Assessment Services
GES has a reputation for expertly evaluating property and facility conditions and assessing risk and liability. We help our clients make informed business decisions by identifying the factors that can advance, challenge, or modify their business strategies, whether for a single property or an extensive portfolio.
Data Management & Analysis
GES’ environmental informatics (EI) group provides leading-edge services for the analysis, modeling, and visualization of complex subsurface hydrogeological issues. The science of environmental informatics incorporates GIS, dynamic-simulation modeling and statistics, and other analytical and computer-based methods in the study and management of environmental data. GES uses its environmental informatics capabilities for comprehensive data management and reporting, data-driven GIS mapping applications, and data validation for application at exploration & production, refining, manufacturing, and power generation facilities. Projects include shale-gas well sampling initiatives; many emergency response actions; and environmental data management for the largest active refinery in the Western Hemisphere. Data management services support technically-sound business decisions.
Remediation Services
At GES, we firmly believe that effective management means safely and cost-efficiently managing environmental liabilities in accordance with site-specific exit strategies.
Permitting & Compliance
At GES, we view advocacy as a core responsibility for our clients. Our permitting and compliance services are designed to help our clients: understand and adapt to dynamic regulatory change, facilitate permitting and licensing of new installations and operations, enhance regulatory compliance and reporting, avoid costly permitting delays. Our operational structure cultivates local regulatory expertise and strong relationships with regulators at the state and local level. These partnerships are created by and fostered through consistent interaction and communication with key city, county, and state agencies. We also have experience working and negotiating with federal agencies in the United States and other regulatory authorities outside the US. Services are provided at a single site or across broad geographic regions.
Consulting Services
When consulting services are centered on an understanding of each client’s business and environmental philosophy, they result in practical solutions. For more than 25 years, GES has worked with our clients on the continuous improvement of their environmental management programs. This experience has given us the understanding and ability to be flexible in our service delivery model. Our practical solutions are designed to meet our clients’ needs for safety, quality, integrity, technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and financial responsibility. Listening to our clients’ needs, considering future property use, and having a clearly defined endpoint in view for our work allows for development of focused and practical strategies that can call upon a broad range of technical, regulatory or management options to reach a successful outcome.
Field Services
GES’ technical expertise in the field sets us apart from other consulting firms. Nearly 80% of our technical staff members—technicians, engineers, hydrogeologists, and environmental scientists—work in the field. We self-perform sampling and monitoring services, system operation, maintenance and monitoring (OM&M), feasibility testing, chemical injection, and subsurface investigation oversight activities while strictly adhering to GES’ health, safety, security, and environment (HSSE) and Loss Prevention Systems (LPS) programs. The ability and commitment to self-perform technical field services provides a much greater degree of safety, management, quality assurance, efficiency, and overall value returned to our clients.
Liability Management
We take a different approach to managing environmental liabilities. Where others take a cookie-cutter approach, we focus on developing the right solution. This involves a sharp focus on the site level combined with an understanding of the client’s environmental program, business drivers, and the equitable balance of risk and reward.Although the development of an environmental remediation solution can be standardized, our experience tells us that the evaluation of site-specific data is crucial to achieve the ultimate remediation goal. This perspective also applies to evaluation of a contracting approach: what is the best—the most practical—solution to achieving our client’s portfolio goals, tailored to real-world requirements with the flexibility to support changing needs?
Engineering
GES’ engineering program merges detailed knowledge of local requirements with broad technical expertise, gained from our many years of experience with the widest range of environmental challenges, to develop practical, site-specific, client-focused solutions. Solutions are compliant with applicable regulations and codes and in accordance with industry best practices to drive system performance, safety, and effectiveness. GES is a recognized expert in the field. Reflecting this position, we often help our clients to develop enterprise-wide integrity management systems that reflect each company’s quality standards. Our engineering team works with each client to identify site-specific parameters in conjunction with client, regulator, and other stakeholder requirements and preferences. Practical solutions incorporate advocacy, innovation, and sustainable practices to meet business objectives and project goals.
