IBS Flow Control Equipment - General

IBS - Penstocks

IBS Penstocks are available in a variety of configurations including wall/weir mounted, channel mounted or channel side wall mounted, straight or curved invert section, 3 or 4-sided sealing, electric, pneumatic or hydraulic actuation and for isolating or modulating duty. In addition to our standard stainless steel penstock range we also offer bespoke stainless steel and galvanized/painted mild steel penstocks for non-standard or specific applications, for which we utilise the latest Finite Element software to ensure the most cost effective design is selected.

IBS - Stock Penstocks

We are also able to supply penstocks on quick turnaround from our stocked warehouse in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. These penstocks have the following specification: SS304 construction, EPDM seals. wall mounted. non-rising spindle. cap top or handwheel operated. telescopic extension spindles. spindle guide brackets. floor or wall mounted pedestals.

Flow Control

IBS - Stoplogs

IBS Stoplogs are ideal for use when temporary water arrest is required and a conventional penstock is excessive in design and cost. They are generally used temporarily for diverting flows whilst carrying out maintenance or for creating a weir wall. Stoplogs, like penstocks, are used in a wide variety of applications and installations including but not limited to: Water and wastewater treatment, Flood control, Canal lock isolation, Hydro-electric plants, Power stations.

IBS - Hydrostatic Bellmouths

Hydrostatic telescopic bellmouths are used for the isolation and control of liquid flow. They are often used on filter distributor chambers and for sludge draw-off on wastewater treatment plants. There are 3 main components of a telescopic bellmouth, the outer pipe, the inner pipe and the operating equipment. Essentially, the operating equipment raises and lowers the inner pipe within the outer pipe to regulate the flow of liquid in to or out of the top of the inner pipe.

IBS - Flap Valves

A Flap valve is a type of non-return valve that prevents liquid from returning back up a discharge pipe or a culvert. A flow of liquid arriving from the upstream end of the system, will hit the back face of the flap valve door and push it off its’ seating face away from the frame – this allows the flow of liquid to continue. Once the flow of liquid has ceased, the door will swing back and rest against the sealing face on the frame, once again closing the orifice.  Any liquid building up against the front face of the door or flap will serve to push the door or flap further against the sealing face on the frame ensuring a water tight seal – at this point no liquid can flow back through the orifice, thus preventing “back-flow”.

Flood Protection Gates

IBS - Flood Defence Gates

IBS Engineered Products are a leading manufacturer of floodgates within the UK and Irish flood defence market, with our parent company IBS Technics operating within mainland Europe and the rest of the world. We design and manufacture our floodgates for a wide range of projects according to the specific requirements of each scheme. Examples of schemes include: Large flood risk management projects
DNO sites, Water utility sites, Private commercial or industrial flood defence schemes, Tidal defences.

Flood Protection - Glass Flood Defence System

IBS - Flow Control Glass Wall Flood Defence System

The IBS glass wall flood defence system (or flood glazing) is used where permanent flood protection is required but where the visual impact of a traditional flood defence wall is not suitable for the surrounding area. Our glazed flood defence system has been used extensively throughout Europe with individual panel lengths in excess of 3m and heights in excess of 2m. The IBS glass wall is extremely robust and uses the same aluminium post profiles and EPDM seals as the tried and trusted IBS demountable flood defence system. All parts are interchangeable, easily replaceable and maintenance free (apart from the occasional clean if the panels experience a build up of dirt). Using common components and sizes has the added benefit of being able to replace glass panels at short notice with removable aluminium beams. This can also be an advantage if access is required through a glass flood defence.

Flood Protection

IBS - Flood Doors

Flood Doors are used for building apertures where flood water can exceed the height of the door opening and where a high degree of water-tightness is required. Standard single leaf IBS flood doors are designed for opening sizes up to 2500mm x 2500mm and to withhold an on-seating static water head of 4m. The standard door is designed with a 120mm high threshold at the bottom and is available in the following materials: Mild Steel hot galvanized, Mild Steel coated, Stainless Steel grade 304 or 316.

Demountable Flood Protection Systems

The IBS demountable flood protection system enables the erection of a temporary flood defence wall to protect against flooding whilst leaving the landscape largely unchanged during normal circumstances. It is used in many applications including community flood protection, road and railway closures, industrial and commercial premises and also coastal flood protection schemes. The IBS system preserves the appeal of the surrounding area and maintains the aesthetics of those properties close to a river or the coast. To achieve this, the construction and operability of the IBS mobile flood protection system meets the highest demands.
