Flow Control
IBS - Stoplogs
IBS Stoplogs are ideal for use when temporary water arrest is required and a conventional penstock is excessive in design and cost. They are generally used temporarily for diverting flows whilst carrying out maintenance or for creating a weir wall. Stoplogs, like penstocks, are used in a wide variety of applications and installations including but not limited to: Water and wastewater treatment, Flood control, Canal lock isolation, Hydro-electric plants, Power stations.
IBS - Hydrostatic Bellmouths
Hydrostatic telescopic bellmouths are used for the isolation and control of liquid flow. They are often used on filter distributor chambers and for sludge draw-off on wastewater treatment plants. There are 3 main components of a telescopic bellmouth, the outer pipe, the inner pipe and the operating equipment. Essentially, the operating equipment raises and lowers the inner pipe within the outer pipe to regulate the flow of liquid in to or out of the top of the inner pipe.
IBS - Flap Valves
A Flap valve is a type of non-return valve that prevents liquid from returning back up a discharge pipe or a culvert. A flow of liquid arriving from the upstream end of the system, will hit the back face of the flap valve door and push it off its’ seating face away from the frame – this allows the flow of liquid to continue. Once the flow of liquid has ceased, the door will swing back and rest against the sealing face on the frame, once again closing the orifice. Any liquid building up against the front face of the door or flap will serve to push the door or flap further against the sealing face on the frame ensuring a water tight seal – at this point no liquid can flow back through the orifice, thus preventing “back-flow”.
