Flood Protection Systems

Mobile / Demountable Walls as Flood Protection Systems

A mobile protection system enables the elevation of flood protection systems while leaving the townscape, the sight and the traffic conditions to and across the river largely unchanged. It therefore preserves the identity and appeal of the city as well as the attractiveness and quality of life of the real estate properties close to the river. In order to achieve this added flood protection while leaving the everyday situation largely unchanged under observation of today`s safety standards, the construction and operation of a mobile flood protection system has to meet the highest demands.

Catastrophe Protection System

K-system is an abbreviation for catastrophe protection system (german: Katastrophe = catastrophe). This system does not require any preparatory construction measures on asphalt up to a flood height of 1.30 m and can therefore be applied flexibly in different locations.  The special feature of the K-system is that the water pressure applied by the flood water makes a positive contribution to the system`s stabilisation. Window Flaps and Plates

IBS developed its window flaps and barriers for object protection to protect windows and openings against the penetration of flood and surface water. Here we distinguish between flaps made of steel for swivelling and barriers for screw attachment made of aluminium or steel.
The flaps and barriers can be mounted to the wall from the inside or the outside. The barrier systems are designed for impermeability in line with DIN 19569-4 and for hydrostatic water pressure with 1.35 times safety pursuant to DIN 19704 (version 1998).

Flow Control Systems

Isolating/Control Penstock

Designed for 0.6 bar on-seating and off-seating head. Door Design according to static requirements. Frame mounted EPDM double wiper side and soffit seals. Door mounted EPDM invert seal. All seals mechanically fixed and easy replaceable

Spill Barriers

Manual Barriers

The barrier is taken off the suspension and inserted in the two end posts. Horizontal and vertical sealing with quick-action ratchets and arresting the barrier body. Design variants: in front of the reveal or face mounted. IBS/BS installation in front of the reveal dhalter u.a.)IBS/BS storage with wall mount (optionally vertical mount and other. IBS/BS with support post, insertion via ground support or bush. IBS/BS 2xBS with support post

Rotational and Foldable Barrier

Preferably used for overdimensions or low heights, e.g. obstruction through pipes. When required, the safety clamp is released, the entire barrier element turned into lock position and additionally folded. The ground seal is pressed down and the barrier element fixed in place with quick-action ratchets. Option: Weight compensation - vertical mount with integrated gas-operated spring

Height-Adjustable, Automatic Barrier

This design is a modification of the basic type IBS/BHV and designed as an emergency barrier. It is triggered via an alarm signal (smoke detector, liquid sensor, etc. ) or manually via buttons. Pressing and locking takes place automatically via compressed gas cartridges.  This system works autonomously without external drive.

Single Leaf Flood Protection Doors

Standardized flood protection doors by IBS ensure a quick and cost effective flood protection of openings. The doors are mounted on the water side (pressure side) of the wall. The door frames are anchored using heavy-duty dowels. When the door is closed, the water pressure presses the door wing onto the door frame. There is a profile seal around the entire circumference of the door wing. The profile seal is attached by means of a stainless steel terminal strip screwed onto the door frame. Generally, all moveable component parts (hinges, screws, bolts, etc.) are made of stainless steel. Frames, door wings and door reinforcement are manufactured in a choice of stainless steel, hot-dip galvanized or coated black steel. Single-wing flood protection doors are offered in standard sizes of up to 2.5 m x 2.5 m and are designed to withhold floods up to 4 m above the threshold.
