Ingenjörsfirman Geotech AB was founded in 1970 by Peter Örtendahl and companions, with the vision to facilitate the hard work of geotechnical personnel and to spread more accurate methods for geotechnical survey.

The company was built on experiences from exploring the sensitive clays of the Gothenburg area, using methods as Swedish Weight Sounding and Nilcon Vane Testing. Equipment for both methods became parts of the early product portfolio.

More products and methods were developed in close cooperation with the Geotechnical department of Chalmers University of Technology and other members of the geotechnical community. The first crawler rig for site investigations was introduced in the mid-seventies.

The company is today a world-leading manufacturer of advanced probes, rigs and other geotechnical field equipment. Geotech is still run by members of the Örtendahl family, dedicated to continue pioneering the development of equipment for soil investigation.
