ISS - Mobile Density Meter
The ISS Mobile Density Meter or MDM150 is a rugged, accurate, low cost instrument for measuring liquid density and viscosity in portable applications.
Embedded Sensors
ISS - Micro Sensors
The Micro Sensors are available in two different versions: the Micro Liquid Density Sensors (LDS) and the Methanol Concentration Sensor (MCS). These sensors are designed to integrate and embed into larger systems and solutions to satisfy the needs of system integrators and OEMs. Currently the Micro Sensors can measure density for liquid materials only. The principal of operation is based on the Coriolis effect however, the resonating sensing tube takes advantage of MEMS technology. These devices have MEMS inside. The result is a very accurate density measurement for performance in a very small package. These sensors are designed for use in general purpose electrical environments. The sensors are calibrated to cover a range of 0.6 to 1.3 grams/cc. Voltage outputs are used to communicate measured density and temperature. A RS-232 serial output is also available.
ISS - Liquid Density Sensor
The Micro Liquid Density Sensor (LDS) can measure BRIX, °Plato, specific gravity, concentration, temperature and density. The LDS can directly measure fluid viscosity in addition to density and temperature. Viscosity measurement combined with density and temperature measurement can be indicator of material composition or quality. For instance in ink jetting viscosity is an indicator of the quality of ink similarly with motor oils the viscosity relates to the quality of the oil. This sensor has an option for Modbus communication as well.
ISS - Methanol Concentration Sensor
The Micro Sensor is also available as a Methanol Concentration Sensor or MCS. This version of the Micro Sensor is designed to meet the needs of the Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (DMFC) industry. It measures the methanol concentration in the water used to feed the cell. Methanol concentration is very important to the operation of the cell for optimal performance. The MCS replaces the previous FC10. Methanol concentration is calculated using fluid density and temperature. A conversion equation is used calculate methanol concentration based on these measurements. This product has standard 0.5 to 4.5 voltage outputs for temperatures of 41 to 158 F (5 to 70 C) and concentration 0 to 10 wt%. Optional ranges are available.
In Line Meters
ISS - Density Measurement In Line Meters for Gases
The GDM sets a new standard in gas density measurement for accuracy and repeatability. The extremely small silicon resonating structure is very light. A small change in gas density due to composition or pressure changes can easily be detected, even at atmospheric pressure. Hydrogen concentration measurement can be measured using gas density. Also SF6, forming gas, and welding cover gases are examples of applications for gas density measurement. The density of hydrogen, methane and other gases can be monitored over a range of 0 to 300 PSI and – 20 to 60°C. Since many of these gases are very combustible the GDM is available with hazardous location approvals.
