Aircraft manufacturers, automakers, and all other transportation-related organizations looking to reduce the dangers of icing in the air and on the road can look to IVS for the latest advances in automatic icing detection technology. In the air, IVS technology optically distinguishes between types of clouds – those containing icing hazards and those that don’t. This is crucial because more than one in 100 of an aircraft’s encounters with ice occur outside of “classic” icing certification envelopes. Aircraft manufacturers needing to comply with the FAA’s latest regulations on icing detection (14 CFR Part 25, Appendices C and D) should be especially interested. On land, IVS technology can alert drivers to potentially hazardous icing on roads, bridges, and parking surfaces.
