Bioengineering and Biotechnical Soil Stabilization Course

This new online course condenses nearly 20 years of authors’ experience into1 hour. The course includes fascinating facts about the history of bioengineering in the West. Where did the term “Straw Wattle” originate? Answers to the question about “design life” of biotechnical methods lie in understanding successional reclamation? Plus, this course will offer 4 of the most useful willow methods.

Webinar: Understanding and Implementing US Administration Regulatory Reform Agenda

This exclusive members only webinar, presented by Leah Pilconis Environmental Law and Policy Advisor for the Associated General Contractors of America, will help you navigate President Trump’s Regulatory Reform Agenda.

Rainwater Harvesting: Applications and Maintenance Course

As pressure mounts on domestic water supplies and stormwater runoff from impervious surfaces becomes more of a problem, rain water harvesting can lessen pressure on water supplies and reduce stormwater runoff. Rain water harvesting has been used for centuries. In ancient Rome and Byzantium water was stored in huge underground cisterns to help walled citied withstand sieges. In climates with alternating wet and dry seasons water can be stored in cisterns to provide supply in the dry season. Rainwater harvesting can provide economical irrigation water as well as non-potable water for domestic toilet flushing, clothes washing, and car washing if plumbing codes allow.

Erosion and Sediment Control

The educational cornerstone of IECA has long been erosion and sediment control. This wide-ranging track encompasses many of the long-standing technology sections that have been a part of the association`s educational offerings. Topics in this track include erosion and sediment control BMPs, SWPPP management, vegetative establishment, wind erosion, slope technology, inspecting, monitoring and maintenance and professional certifications. This track also includes construction stormwater-related business and legal issues.

Wetland, Stream Bank, and Shoreline Restoration

This educational track encompasses the focused, intricate and detailed work of restoring and enhancing the waters of our oceans, lakes, rivers, streams and wetlands. Topics would include wetlands restoration technology, stream restoration and beach & shoreline stabilization.

Stormwater Management

This track covers the far-reaching field of managing stormwater in the post-construction urban environment. Subject matter such as regulatory requirements and compliance, green infrastructure, post-construction stormwater practices, water quality monitoring and water quality modeling are covered in this educational track.

Stormwater Pollution Prevention Training for MS4 Permit Holders

This educational track focuses on all of the various aspects required of a Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Permit. Many stormwater professionals are expected to have expertise across a wide scope of programs, especially in smaller MS4`s. Thousands of municipalities around the world are tasked with implementing strategies to lessen the impacts of urban stormwater and industrial pollution. Subjects such as illicit discharge detection and elimination, industrial stormwater management, municipal good housekeeping, program funding mechanisms and education programs are all discussed in this educational track.

Erosion and Sediment Control Fundamentals

Start Here: A Primer on Erosion and Sediment Control

This introductory course is a must for those new to the erosion and sediment control field or those wishing to brush up on the fundamentals. The course will describe the basic categories and types of erosion, as well as their triggers on construction sites. A logical sequence of four lines of defense, including flow controls, erosion controls, sediment controls and good housekeeping will be outlined as well as an overview of BMPs and products available for each line of defense.

SWPPP - Planning and Implementation & NPDES Regulations

A Team Approach to Phasing and Sequencing

Phasing and Sequencing are often overlooked or poorly described in Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP). In this workshop we will focus on how to develop a functional Phasing and Sequencing plan that will meet regulatory requirements and provide the contractor with a workable and flexible plan. Presentation of successful and innovative phasing concepts that will provided to give a better understanding for the design and development of a complete SWPPP plan. we will discuss the need for the three main groups in a project - planning regulatory and construction to have good lines of communication and input in order to have a project be successful to all.

Contractor Compliance with Stormwater Regulations

The goal of this workshop will be to provide both project managers and site supervisors of construction companies with training on the NPDES regulations. The workshop will focus on the contractor perspective and what they need to know to stay in compliance with the regulations. Focus will be concentrated on maintaining the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), inspection requirements and evaluating best management practices (BMP). We will spend time looking at the strengths and limitations of BMPs for effectiveness and maintenance needs and to give the contractor some insight in evaluating the appropriateness of specific BMPs on plans.
