International Forward Osmosis Association (IFOA) Past Events

Inspired by the natural osmotic process, ubiquitous to all living cells, forward osmosis (FO) and pressure retarded osmosis (PRO) are now emerging as alternative membrane technologies for desalination and energy generation. Discussing and sharing the latest progress and envisioning the future perspectives within the academia and industries is however vital for the progress of these novel technologies. IFOS has been therefore founded with the main aim to provide a specific forum and also aims to encourage more academia and industries on board to this field. The first IFOS 2014 was held at Shanghai on 19 July 2014 where about 120 participants from 8 countries attended the summit. Encouraged by the success of the first IFOS and the positive feedback the organizers received, the summit will be held every two years.

The IFOA is pleased to announce its first World Summit and Gala Dinner in conjunction with the Association’s Annual General Assembly meeting in historic Lisbon, Portugal on 18th – 19th September 2014. Join world-leading experts in Forward Osmosis (FO) technology at the Dom Pedro Palace hotel in Lisbon to learn more about the latest commercial developments, strategies and techniques in FO. Participate in a variety of interactive technical sessions, and join the General Assembly meeting and help develop the Association’s agenda for 2015 and beyond. Outstanding technical sessions will include noted industry experts presenting practical and useful insight into FO applications and performance advantages.
