Laboratory Testing Services

Numerical modeling relies on relevant, correct, and accurate data to describe the behavior of soil, rock, and construction materials. To this end, Itasca regularly works with trusted, accredited university and private laboratories. Itasca can validate test protocols, review test results, and specify materials properties. In addition, Itasca engineers can supervise the sampling, collection, and preparation of lab samples as well as manage field testing. Specimen preparation and testing are performed in compliance with the relevant ISRM (International Society for Rock Mechanics) suggested methods and/or ASTM Standards.

Virtual Lab Testing Services

All of Itasca’s geomechanical software simulates standard laboratory tests using servo-controlled, periodic, and other boundary conditions, for model calibration, design purposes, or fundamental research. Best of all, such virtual tests are completely non-destructive, repeatable, randomizable, and fully examinable.

Synthetic Rock Mass Services

Obtaining accurate rock mass strengths requires an understanding of the intact rock and joint properties of each geotechnical unit and the in-situ stress state. To estimate rock mass strengths, Itasca uses the full gamut of engineering approaches, including analytical, empirical, and numerical modeling approaches.

Acoustic Emissions Services

Itasca acoustic emissions technology along with its seismic processing software InSite-Lab has been used in research laboratories for a wide range of scientific studies. Some specific example applications include the following.
