JCS - Model GMS595 - Wide-Range Gamma Dose-Rate Monitor

Developed in partnership with AWE the GMS595 wide-range gamma dose rate monitor combines the measurement range of a suite of gas-filled detectors into a single hand-held instrument. Capable of accurately measuring dose-rates from nSv/hr to Sv/hr, the GMS595 is simple to operate, quick to set up, environmentally stable and now the new standard gamma dose-rate instrument across site at AWE.

JCS - Model GMS310 - Core Sample Gamma Logger

The GMS310 Core Gamma Logger is a handheld Gamma Spectrometer designed to detect naturally occurring gamma radiation. The GMS310 offers the ability to log elemental concentrations of Uranium, Thorium, and Potassium by means of spectral analysis of gamma emissions from core materials. It also allows the operator to add user/site defined ROI (regions of interest) in 3 additional channels available on the instrument and gives a total gamma count.

JCS - Model GMS1800a - Dual Channel Laboratory Counter

The GMS1800a can be used with industry standard Alpha and Beta detector drawer units (such as the AEA Technology I Harwell Instruments types ‘ADU’ and ‘SDU’, 0744, 0771 and 0772), or with other instruments providing digital pulse output signals.

JCS - Model GMS1800b - Laboratory Counter

The GMS1800b Laboratory Counter can be used with most common types of Geiger or Scintillation radiation detectors. Measurement results are displayed on a large backlit LCD display. The Laboratory Counter also provides an audible indicator, which emits short clicks at lower count rates, and may also be used as an alarm indicator in rate meter mode.

Model bMCA-U - Compact, Digital Multi-Channel Analyser (MCA)

bMCA-U is a compact, digital Multi-Channel Analyser (MCA), which is able to perform Pulse Height Analysis (PHA) of the signal produced by a standard 14-pin standard photomultiplier coupled to a scintillation detector such as NaI(Tl), LaBr3 (Ce), LaCl3(Ce), etc. The device is used for obtaining an energy spectrum from the photon radiation detected by the scintillator, and can be easily linked to a typical PC or notebook via a standard USB port for data transfer and further analysis.

The NMS017NG3 is the latest generation of neutron monitor from John Caunt Scientific Ltd. It is a battery-powered hand-held neutron survey monitor that provides ambient dose equivalent measurements from thermal to 14MeV neutrons. Ease of use and deployment underpin the design philosophy of the NMS017NG3 and has seen this instrument adopted as the industry standard deployed across the majority of civil nuclear sites, AWE, MoD as well as many academic, research and medical establishments.

JCPEP is a pure, high molecular weight, polyethylene neutron shielding, frequently used as a moderator where it is desired to slow fast neutrons down to thermal energies for experimentation. In these applications, it is highly desirable to maximise the hydrogen content and minimise any impurities, especially those that might absorb neutrons. We can supply high purity virgin polyethylene for this application in a variety of shapes and sizes.
