Kalthoff panel filters consist of a pleated, or also flat-laying, filter media in a frame. The synthetic nonwoven processed in the panel filters are manufactured from polyolefins, which are largely mechanical and chemically inert, and thus suited for a FDA and GMP-conforming production of pharmaceuticals, as well as foodstuffs.

The construction design of the compact filters combines the advantages of bag-type filters and pleated panel filters. They are designed for demanding fine dust filtration from supply air. The compact construction design enables a high stability of the filter and thus a high load-carrying capacity.

Ultrafine micro-glass papers are used as filter media, which are pleated to provide filter-media surfaces which are 40 to 100 times the area of the face dimension. As a result of this, an especially slow airflow occurs which supports the diffusion arrestance of the sub-micron particles. Effective pre-filtration of coarse particle fractions is necessary as mandatory.

Filter pads are the simplest type of deep-bed filters and consist of unframed filter media only. Filter pads are mostly used as a flat-lying coarse dust mat up to maximum filter class M5. In the surface technology ceiling filters are used for the dust particle separation in supply-air filtration, floor filters are used for paint-particle separation in exhaust-air filtration. They both enable a uniform dispersion of the air stream. Frequently, low costs of purchase are associated with high operating and maintenance costs. The filter media can be cut to customised size. For special applications, various types of fibre blends, impregnations or laminations are used.

_{Activated carbon filters belong to the sorption-working filter types and separate gaseous molecular substances and also odours. Kalthoff activated carbon is available as grained layers, both in flat panel design and in cylindrical cartridges of various shapes. They find use particularly in decentralised systems, as well as in the coating technology. Other types are provided with very thin reactive layers, which similar to the compact filters are available in pleated structure with large surface areas. Further available are activated carbon bag-type filters with multi-layer construction of high effective activated carbon granular layer and COMPOPLUS^® filter media. Thus two functions are united in one filter and there results a double-working arrester which can additionally separate dust particles. As a result, the filters can be used in accordance with EN 13799 (or ISO 16798) in HVAC systems.}
