Since its founding in 1974, Kazan, McClain, Satterley, Lyons, Greenwood & Oberman, A Professional Law Corporation, has represented many hundreds of people with cancer, especially people suffering from mesothelioma, a cancer whose only known cause is exposure to asbestos. Some of the principals in this law firm are pioneers in asbestos litigation and among the most experienced mesothelioma lawyers in California.

Kazan Law has a nationwide practice and reputation in asbestos litigation. We have represented clients across the United States, and in Canada, Mexico and the United Kingdom.

Our firm's practice is limited to cases involving catastrophic injury and death from exposure to asbestos.

We pursue products liability, premises liability, negligence and punitive damage causes of action in third party civil cases and before Bankruptcy Trust Funds.

Our attorneys have been instrumental in winning precedent-setting rulings by the California Appellate and Supreme Courts. All of the principals and many of the associates have extensive trial experience.

Kazan Law is consulted by and gives advice to over a thousand potential clients each year. Over the years, we have filed over two thousand cases and we now file, on average, 20-25 new cases per year.

Our staff of over 60 employees, including 22 attorneys, work on this limited number of new cases each year, allowing The Firm to provide quality representation to every client.

We are large enough to have extensive resources and many years of experience, yet small enough to ensure that every client receives individual and outstanding representation. Each case is individually developed and handled by a small team of attorneys, paralegals and investigators. This team also has the resources of the entire office to draw upon, including professional investigators and extensive databases.

Our representation of clients has two important goals. The first is to go as far as possible within the limits of the legal system to redress the wrong done to each of our clients. The second is to have a broader impact: to improve the work-place through public education about occupational health and safety, and through legislative advocacy. We do this in our litigation, by supporting our non-profit Foundation, and by our active participation in WORKSAFE!, a statewide coalition that supports occupational safety and health.

Kazan Law has provided counsel to the AsbestosDisease Awareness Organization (ADAO) when it acts as 'friend of the Court' (amicus) in appellate cases. This relationship grew out of The Firm's representation of Jim Vermeulen, AVA's founder. Mr. Vermeulen, a Johns-Manville employee, became an activist for asbestos victims and was the only non-lawyer representative on the Manville Asbestos Victims Creditors' Committee, where The Firm was his personal counsel.

Kazan Law also maintains an active pro bono practice (that is, we work for free) on behalf of labor organizations and public interest groups, and our attorneys are active in and on the boards of many organizations, including Consumer Attorneys of California, the Alameda-Contra Costa Trial Lawyers Association, the Charles Houston Bar Association, Cal/OSHA's Advisory Committee, the National Lawyers Guild, Santa Clara County Committee on Occupational Safety and Health, the AFL-CIO Lawyers Coordinating Committee, the Labor and Employment Law Section of the State Bar of California, Women Lawyers of Alameda County, Trial Lawyers for Public Justice, and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.

Mesothelioma lawyers practice in a very specialized area of the law, representing the victims of asbestos exposure and their families. There are approximately 2500 new cases of mesothelioma diagnosed each year in the United States, and the attorneys who know the intricacies of asbestos litigation and have the experience to successfully take a case through the court system are a special breed.

Mesothelioma Lawsuits & Litigation

Mesothelioma law is a narrow practice area focusing exclusively on asbestos related lung cancer, often a result of occupational exposure or military service. The laws and parameters regarding winning a lawsuit are complicated and vary from state to state. Mesothelioma attorneys have the experience and knowledge to handle your case and secure the justice and compensation you deserve.

The mesothelioma lawyers at Kazan McClain Satterley, Lyons, Greenwood & Oberman have been focusing on representing the victims of asbestos exposure since 1974 and have been instrumental in shaping the law to ensure that present and future victims of mesothelioma will have the opportunity to seek justice in the court system, including playing a crucial role in the development of trust funds to pay claims for bankrupt asbestos companies.

Our Mesothelioma Attorneys

Kazan Law's mesothelioma lawyers work on a contingency basis, which means they never take fees up front, but only after the completion of trial or settlement. They are prepared to handle the complex matters involved in your mesothelioma case.

It is often possible to pursue action against a number of defendants, including manufacturers and distributors of asbestos-containing materials. The Firm's mesothelioma lawyers will be able to assess your circumstances and determine the best strategy for gaining compensation and justice.

Over the last 37 years, our mesothelioma lawyers have won many landmark cases and achieved many large settlements from asbestos manufacturers, distributors, contractors, premises owners, and the insurance companies who represent them.

The Kazan, McClain, Abrams, Fernandez, Lyons, Greenwood, Oberman, Satterley & Bosl Foundation, Inc was formed in 1994, and over the years has disbursed over $20 million in grants to a wide array of community and civic organizations, including $6 million for mesothelioma research. Our mission is to benefit the public through grants to organizations and individuals in order to:

We are a public charity under IRC 501 (c)(3), with a volunteer part-time staff and a volunteer working board. The Kazan, McClain, Abrams, Fernandez, Lyons, Greenwood, Oberman, Satterley & Bosl Foundation, Incs' expenses are defrayed by the Firm, which means that all donations go directly to charitable services.
