Kinitics Automation is based in Vancouver, BC with roots in the automotive and power-generation industries. A leading company in the development of motion control products using shape memory alloy (SMA) materials, Kinitics manufactures its own line of Linear Actuators and Piston Pumps based on the company’s Bundled Wire technology. The first use case of SMA dates back to 2012 when, during the founders’ endeavours to develop a small and lightweight clutch actuator for motorcycles, it became clear that conventional fluid power technologies could not produce the needed results; thus the first Kinitics Piston Pump was born. Notable achievements made in the pursuit of advancing SMA technology includes the development of Bundled Wire technology, application of high voltages, application as a power source and control device in hydraulic circuits, stable performance over millions of cycles, and high levels of repeatable precision and accuracy.
