In industry, a lot of water is needed and is contaminated by a wide range of pollutants in the most diverse production processes. Unfortunately, most of the industrial waste water is wasted. In order to avoid this, we are developing high-performance waste water treatment plants with the vacuum evaporator as the core element.

Industry challenge: In metal manufacturing and metal processing a wide variety of processes, e.g. metal cutting, surface processing and forming, are required to achieve a high-quality product. Water is an indispensable ingredient in many of these processes. Depending on the process, it can contain a whole variety of materials and substances. Typical types of metal industry wastewaters are emulsions (coolants and lubricants), separating agents (from aluminum die casting, autoclaving), cleaning waters, rinsing and chemical baths, electroplating and grinding waters and rinsing water from crack-test systems. Usually, wastewater from these processes is not re-used and must be disposed of. But there is a much better solution!

Industry challenge. Surface technology optimises parts and tools to meet specific requirements. Processes used in surface technology: Chemical pre-treatment of surfaces, e.g. cleaning, degreasing, etching. Mechanical surface treatment, e.g. grinding, polishing. Surface coating, e.g. painting, powder coating. Water is an essential ingredient in many of these processes, for example in pre-treatment. As a consequence, water can contain a wide variety of substances after completion of the respective processes.

Industry challenge: Energy generation, energy storage, energy use and energy transport are the main technology issues in the energy industry. This is also true for nuclear power plants. Producers want to achieve high yields of usable energy in the most efficient, economical and environmentally friendly ways. In many applications, in the production of individual components as well as in energy generation itself, water is an instrumental ingredient. In silicon processing, wastewater can contain a wide variety of substances such as acids, PEGs or fluorides. Energy production from biomass creates wastewater containing solids and organic compounds. Due to strict regulations, these types of wastewater must not be led into sewage without a prior treatment.
