Land IQ ET - Field-Scale Water Use Estimation Model

Land IQ ET is a sophisticated model developed for detailed estimation of water use at the field scale. It calculates water consumption through the processes of evaporation and transpiration, collectively known as evapotranspiration (ET). The model integrates comprehensive ground station data and direct image analysis to interpret image data effectively. Designed initially for the Semitropic Water Storage District (SWSD), it has expanded since 2016 to cover more than 3 million acres. This includes nearly 40 Groundwater Sustainability Agencies (GSAs) or irrigation districts with 35 to 40 different crop types, utilizing multiple water sources. Deliverables include both report and web-based formats, with all GIS and tabular results downloadable from the web tool. The web tool offers extensive functionalities, including field boundaries, current crop mapping, field-by-field ET and precipitation coverages. Land IQ ET distinguishes itself through data-driven analysis, field-level scale, ground truth data, accurate crop mapping, and the integration of agronomic features of modern cropping systems.
