Good governance is key to a well functioning society. Landell Mills" is involved in a number of governance and institutional development interventions, ranging from the building of local, regional and national level structures and capabilities from scratch in new and fragile states, to refining existing structures and policies to the realities presented by evolving regional groupings and international norms.
Post Conflict Reconstruction and Regeneration
Landell Mills has worked in a number of post-conflict environments including Afghanistan, Nepal and Sierra Leone. Infrastructure development is one of the first priorities following conflicts, and Landell Mills has been involved in such work as rebuilding irrigation schemes. Helping to rebuild government institutions and improve the coping mechanisms of the poor is equally as important however and it is in this area that Landell Mills has provided significant assistance. Working in such environments presents numerous challenges from security to logistical support, and Landell Mills can draw on past experience to ensure that services are delivered on time and within budget. Activities carried out in post-conflict reconstruction and regeneration cut across Landell Mills"s core areas of expertise and have included water resource development and environmental work, rural development and food security, private sector development and institutional strengthening.
Climate Change, Natural Resources & The Environment
Climate change has become an increasingly important issue on the international agenda as governments try to find ways to reduce carbon emissions and to promote more environmentally sustainable activities. has been expanding its services into this area over the last few years with work on bioenergy power generation, carbon sequestration and carbon development mechanism projects. Such work is a natural development to Landell Mills" core environmental activities which have concentrated on the land, forestry and water sectors.
