Carbon Credits Projects for GHG Mitigation Services
The ghost of global warming is ensuing all around the globe. Green house gasses like methane, carbon dioxide are the mainly responsible for global warming. To curb the emission of these GHG Kyoto protocol was signed at Japan. Under this protocol financial incentives were included for developing countries to reduce the pollution at lower cost. These financial incentives are available for developing countries like India from developing countries under the direct supervision of UN. Biogas (common product of ETP) comprises of mostly methane (55-60%) and carbon-dioxide (35-40%). Both gasses are considered as Green House Gases (GHG). The global warming potential (GWP) of CO2 is 1 whereas CH4 is more dangerous to the environment by 21 folds and hence has GWP of 21. Methane extraction or capture from wastewater/sludge and using it as a precious renewable biofuel is encouraged in today’s developing world. The lucrative encouragement on this front is available in two ways:
Sewage Treatment Plant Services
The sewage shall be taken to the effluent treatment plant by suitably designed channel orclosed pipe depending upon the topography of the site. Effluent shall then enter into the screen chamber for the removal of floating matter from the effluent. Effluent shall then enter into the Collection tank.
Surface Aeration Services
The effluent from anaerobic reactor enter into Extended Aeration Tank. In EAT microorganisms degrade soluble organics aerobically. In order to ensure required population of bacteria in EAT, a requisite mixed liquor suspended solids (MLSS) is maintained. To maintain requisite MLSS and food to microorganism’s ratio (F/M), part of the settled sludge from secondary clarifier will be recirculated back to the extended aeration tank. An aeration system consisting of surface aerators shall be used to provide oxygen to bacteria.
Diffused Aeration Services
The effluent from anaerobic reactor shall then enter into Extended Aeration Tank. An aeration system consisting of fine bubble diffusers shall be used to provide oxygen to bacteria
Submerged Media Aeration Services
In the Submerged Media Aeration chamber, digestion of organic matter shall take place by biological-aerobic process. The bacteria responsible for digestion process are present in the form of fixed film. Geometrically structured PVC media is provided for immobilization of bacteria. The PVC media has a very large specific surface, which ensures enormous surface area for the immobilization of bacteria. The Submerged Media Aeration chamber is partially packed with structured media fill of PVC. This specialty of the media lies in offering very large surface area at a void ratio of 95%.
