LS Instruments AG

LS Instruments AG

The history of LS Instruments, it is first of all necessary to simply explain what LS stands for. It stands for Light Scattering, a technology that is of great importance in the study of soft matter. The founders of LS Instruments, Professors Peter Schurtenberger and Frank Scheffold, both physicists, spent years researching soft materials and especially protein systems. However, the originally available light scattering technology did not allow research to be carried out on concentrated samples. In addition, there was always the risk that measurements were erroneous and the scientist could not figure this out from the results. Peter and Frank dedicated themselves to exactly this problem. The goal was to extend the well known and commercially available light scattering technology to also enable the reliable characterization of turbid and highly concentrated samples.
