Invitations to Bid
Listed below are the current projects for which bids are being requested by the Macon Water Authority. Click on the link below to view the Invitation to Bid for that project. Once bids are received for an Authority project, an apparent low bidder is announced. In the days following the bid date and prior to the next scheduled MWA Board meeting, the Authority staff prepares a bid tabulation of all received bids to confirm the bid calculations and resulting total bid of each bidder. Errors in math are corrected and the order of bids are posted from lowest to highest, in increasing order. The bid tabulation is presented to the MWA Board for approval.Below is the bid tabulation sheet for project(s) currently being reviewed and presented to the MWA Board for approval.Projects Under Construction
After projects are awarded and contracts completed, the MWA staff hosts a pre-construction meeting with the awarded contractor(s). Normally, a "Notice to Proceed" (NTP) is delivered at this meeting. The project start and end date are posted in the NTP as well. At this point, the project is under construction and continues until the project is accepted by the MWA as completed. Those commercial and/or industrial clients of the Macon Water Authority, primarily developers and builders seeking to tap onto the MWA water and/or sewer system, must adhere to stringent design and construction specifications for infrastructure that attaches to, or is to be included within, the MWA system. Such design and construction specifications are intended to protect the integrity of MWA system infrastructure through adherence to quality control measures, industry standards, and regulatory compliance. The Macon Water Authority (MWA) requires that any development project that proposes to connect or discharge to any part of MWA’s public water and/or sewer system, a change in building footprint or floor plan, or an increase in wastewater usage, must be submitted for plan review. Commercial business applicants seeking permitted or conditional use approvals from the Macon-Bibb County Planning & Zoning Commission will also require MWA approval. All residential, commercial, and industrial development project site plans involving water and/or sewer must be reviewed by MWA officials and approved for construction under the supervision of a licensed registered Professional Engineer within the State of Georgia. A one-time fee of $125.00 in the form of money order or check made payable to the Macon Water Authority must accompany each plan review submittal.
