Oil Water Separators - Above Ground Oil Water Separators
Mercer - Model 10 gpm - 30 gpm - Above Ground Oil Water Separator
Our "low flow" separator series offers an industrial-duty design in a compact size. The "low flow" series incorporates the same features found in our standard separator designs that have helped Mercer build its sterling reputation, yet in a compact package.
Mercer - Model 50 gpm - 100 gpm - Above Ground Oil Water Separator
This flow rate grouping is where we see the popularity of the Compliance Master oil water separators grow on the industrial wastewater front. Over the last three decades our separators have been shipped to hundreds of chemical, oil/gas, and utility companies. The “muckier” the application, the easier it is to compare and contrast the life-cycle costs when purchasing Mercer’s separator equipment.
Mercer - Model 150 gpm - 300 gpm - Above Ground Oil Water Separator
If you have solids present in your wastewater, you`ll want to consider a Mercer International oil/water separator. Some of the most unique wastewater problems we have solved at these flow rates can be traced back to our core design principles. Most industrial wastewater has sufficient solids to foul traditional coalescers quickly. Even a light loading of solids (50 mg/l) adds up quickly over time. A well-designed coalescer is one that will process solids down and out of the coalescer, keeping the plates clean and clear. When solids are present, there is a need to process the solids from the coalescer to reduce costly maintenance. Cheap plastic corrugated coalescers and Vertical Tube Coalescers (VTCs) are not designed well enough to meet the challenge of wastewater containing any significant solids loading.
Mercer - Model 400 gpm - 600 gpm - Above Ground Oil Water Separator
This family of Mercer separators is where the Oil/Gas and Electric Utility industries have "fallen in love" with the Mercer design and the superior Multi-Pack coalescer system which is at the heart of its success. Here is a sampling of Oil/Gas and Electric Utility companies who have turned to Mercer to get it right:
Mercer - Model 750 gpm - 1000 gpm - Above Ground Oil Water Separator
As the flow rates become larger, the importance of dedicated settling (solids) and rising (oil) zones become critical for a non-fouling design. Not only do the Chimney Zones process oils and solids out of the coalescer, they naturally create a break in the coalescer plate, providing shorter plate widths in the flow direction. Shorter plate widths yield a low "equivalent diameter" which is a measure of how a coalescer plate configuration will perform with solids present.
Mercer - Model Over 1,000 gpm - Above Ground Oil Water Separator
Most separators designed for high efficiency require very frequent maintenance to obtain excellent effluent results. Conversely, separators designed for low maintenance greatly sacrifice performance, leaving you with ordinary and compromised results. Mercer International has perfected the design required to consistently supply high efficiency and low maintenance--plus the ability to customize performance in the field. This extraordinary design, rooted in creating a better way to process solids, makes Mercer International the best "life cycle" value available.
Oil Water Separators - Below Ground Oil Water Separators
Mercer - Plastic Below Ground Oil Water Separator
Mercer International, Inc. offers a line of competitively-priced below ground oil/water separators for flows up to 100 gpm. Tanks are constructed of corrosion-proof polyethylene and can be buried up to 30" below grade. The coalescer offering in this line of separators is our "coalescer ball" technology that attracts passing oil droplets to the high surface area created by a plurality of polypropylene balls in close proximity to each other which attract these oil droplets. The coalescer balls are harnessed in removable netted bags and are removed, cleaned for reuse. This separator is ideal for gas stations, vehicle repair applications and various wash racks. This solution has been embraced by several State DOTs as the most cost effective way to remove oil from maintenance and washbay wastewater.
Mercer - Below Ground Steel Oil Water Separator
Mercer Supplies a full line of cylindrical below-ground, high-performance, steel oil/water separators ranging from 50-5,000 gpm (10-1,000 m3/h) for stormwater and wastewater applications.

Mercer - Mobile Oil Water Separator
There are several applications where the need for a mobile oil water separation system becomes important. Common applications include when various process and storage tanks are in need of cleaning in the refining industry, or when there is a spill response effort in a tank, sump, or other area with water that needs immediate mobilization. In these cases there is water being used to clean or flush out a vessel or area, and the resulting wastewater needs to go through a separation process before it can be hauled away. The flexibility of being able to move a treatment system from location to location in an industrial facility is very useful. We have been able to save industry a great deal of money by taking care of the clean-up or treatment need quickly, instead of having to ship the contaminated wastewater to a third party facility. In some instances these facilities are hundreds of miles away and across state lines.
Mercer - Sand Interceptors for Oil Water Separators
Mercer offers integral and stand-alone "sand interceptors" ahead of our standard oil/water separators. We incorporate sand interceptors where heavy solids are known to be in the wastewater and need a larger settling area for coarse removal before entering the coalescer compartment. By taking out the heavy solids, there is less loading on the coalescer, thereby allowing the coalescer to supply optimal results. A sand interceptor tank is also used when there is a very heavy concentration of oil as well. This tank acts as a primary tank for removal of large micron droplet sized oil. In this case as well, the interceptor tank will take the gross oil out of the wastewater upstream of the coalescer, preventing the coalescer from being "hindered" by excessive oil.
