About Us
MAI’s expertise encompasses all aspects of ground water development for water supply, including siting of test wells, drilling supervision and well logging, design and implementation of pumping tests, aquifer test analysis, water quality testing, and preparation of hydrogeologic reports in a hydrogeologic setting represented almost exclusively by fractured aquifers.
Ground water is the only available and viable source of water supply for residential, commercial, and industrial need in much of southeastern Pennsylvania. Most of this region is designated as a ground water protected area because of the high degree of residential and commercial development and competition for the resource. Consequently, regulatory requirements for withdrawals of ground water in excess of 10,000 gallons per day are strict and require implementation of thorough aquifer testing and detailed hydrogeologic analysis and reporting.
The high degree of expertise attained by Mercuri and Associates, Inc. in the development of ground water resources is attested to by the positive results in drilling and project approval rates by the regulatory agencies. Since its inception, MAI has completed numerous water supply projects and is currently working on similar projects in various stages of completion, to include comprehensive ground water resource investigations, development, and management for municipal clients.
A detailed understanding and knowledge of complex hydrogeologic frameworks is the prerequisite for implementation of technically sound and cost effective ground water and site contamination studies. Over the years, MAI has been involved in all aspects of contamination studies, from preliminary investigations to design and implementation of remedial programs; including design and implementation of hydrogeologic work plans, identification of contaminant species, design and implementation of sampling programs, design and installation of monitoring wells,
definition of horizontal and vertical extent of contamination, representation of clients with regulatory agencies and expert testimony in litigation cases.
Since 1998, the firm has also been providing environmental engineering services with the addition of highly skilled professionals. Areas of expertise include water and wastewater treatment, analysis and design of water distribution and sewer collection systems, and design of wastewater treatment plants.
Mercuri and Associates, Inc. has developed the necessary knowledge of the requirements and procedures for the removal of underground storage tanks and assessment of the condition of the underlying soil and aquifer, and has completed many such projects in recent years. The firm has completed many environmental assessments for real estate transactions over the years, including Phase I, Phase II, and Phase III, and is presently working on several Act 2 projects (Land Recycling Act of 1995). The firm has also completed many water and wastewater treatment projects as well as storm water management studies.
The technical staff at MAI is made up of highly qualified and competent geologists, hydrogeologists, and engineers. Senior staff members have advanced degrees and/or more than 10 years experience, and are registered professionals. They are responsible for the actual performance of project tasks, including field work. The senior staff is also complemented by intermediate and entry-level geologists, hydrogeologists and engineers.
Mercuri and Associates, Inc. measures its success not on the basis of gross revenues or size of the staff, but, rather, on the ability to solve clients’ problems. Resolving a water supply problem for a municipal or private client, or completing a remedial project for an industrial client within acceptable time frames and budget requirements, or simply implementing a Level I Environmental Assessment are all equally important to the firm.
Satisfied clients are the firm's most important asset and the best form of advertising...
